51. What question could you ask to find out the most about a person?
My answer (fair’s fair) is a well- timed “how are you?” I find if you ask at a moment they’re concentrating on something else, or otherwise demonstrate genuine interest or even curiosity, most people (yes, even us English) will give an honest answer, sometimes more honest than they mean to.
Oohh, what an interesting question! I feel like I would also ask "how are you doing?" But or me, I would ask "What do you want to do?" Sometimes, they'll answer what they want to do in the present moment like grabbing a coffee, or they'll dive into a monologue about what they want for their future or dream job/education. I think it reveals more about the person whether they answer in "present" or "future" terms. You get to know how they feel or where they want to be right now or you understand what they really want for themselves in the long term.

I am, as the poets say, a disaster.
staying up late to read one cool paper
which turns into reading another cool paper that the first paper referenced
that turns into getting to lab mid afternoon because you woke up at noon
staying in lab late into the evening because there’s just so much to do
wanting to be aesthetic, but knowing that wearing nice clothes into lab is a bad idea (:’()
blue light glasses to protect your eyes from strain as you analyze data
going back to lab late at night to rerun an experiment because the data sucked and you have group meeting tomorrow
the wonderful feeling of finally troubleshooting that one experiment correctly
having science idols that you gaze wonderingly at when you see them at conferences
struggling through a class even but you enjoy it because sometimes learning is just hard
students emailing you with questions about the class you’re TA-ing causing you to wonder when you became the Adult In Charge who Knows Things
talking with your PI/ older grad students and realizing that you definitely are NOT the Adult In Charge who Knows Things but that’s a good thing because it means that you’re in the right place to learn
when your NMR shows your expected product and the MS shows high purity (tears of joy)
being the nerd in all your conversations with non-Science people and pulling out fun facts about solubility rules, thermodynamics, or the ultimate crowd pleaser: molecular quantum mechanics
getting really excited meeting another person your age from your field even if your projects are totally different
remembering even that when science is kicking your butt… you’re doing something cool that will have an impact and that no-one else has done yet!
days filled with reading 💭
GOOD DAY TO EVERYONE !
Greetings!
My name is Osito, and i've been feeling very sick lately 🤧.
After my human mom took me to several vets, ran many tests, and bought me a lot of medicine , yesterday I was finally diagnosed with a neurological problem, left vestibular syndrome. It is treatable, yes, but i need to get an urgent MRI to discard tumors or strokes. My hooman mom doesn't have much money left since she's been unemployed for a while, and the money she earns from commissions isn't enough for this exam.
She can't do more commissions right now because she already has so many ( thank you people 🙏❤️), and during the day she takes care of me and my grandma , who is chronically ill and at night she work doing comissions and illustrations too! So please help me to afford this examen wich is a cerebral MRI and it cost 413,83 USD ( 417.000 CLP)
HELP ME TO REACH THE GOAL !
You can donate by paypal wich is
https://www.paypal.me/sashimiprince26
Or by kofi wich is
I will attach the exam prescription and the price of the MRI
Please share ❤️❤️❤️ me, my grandma and my hooman mum will be very grateful ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
A cup of tea would restore my normality.
