Hace un tiempo, me di cuenta de que el rock es mi género de música favorito, desde que descubrí It's my life de Bon Jovi. Unos años después, descubrí el grupo H.E.A.T., que tiene un estilo como el de Bon Jovi, pero sus canciones son algo más hard, y me encantó.

Pero un grupo que de verdad me ha llamado la atención, tanto por sus ritmos, melodías, significado de la letra de algunas de sus canciones... es Mägo de Oz. Es un grupo español de folk metal (no es tan metal como otros, y me encanta, sobre todo su estilo folk). Su canción más famosa es Fiesta pagana.

But one band that has really caught my attention, for their rhythms, melodies, meaning of the lyrics of some of their songs... is Mägo de Oz. It's a Spanish folk metal band (it's not as metal as others, and I love it, especially their folk style). Their most famous song is Fiesta pagana.

Pues este grupo tiene unas cuantas canciones que sus ritmos me tienen abstraída, como La danza del fuego (especialmente esta), El que quiera entender que entienda, Bandera negra o Molinos de viento.

Well, this group has a lot of songs whose rhythms keep me in awe, such as La danza del fuego (especially this one), El que quiera entender que entienda, Bandera negra or Molinos de viento.

Sin embargo, la de mayor importancia, por su significado, es La cantata del diablo. En esta critica la religión tradicional, es decir, la de la época de La Inquisición, también la actual (y eso me encanta, yo soy atea y no le encuentro ninguna lógica a la religión, ya que fue creada porque en el pasado los humanos no podían explicar las cosas y a todo le daban una explicación divina). El punto de este post es la parte de la canción cuando dicen claramente el porqué de escribir la canción, a partir del minuto 19 (dura 21 minutos la canción 😳). En esa parte no canta, tan solo habla, y por detrás está la melodía que más me gusta de la canción. Voy a escribir esa parte aquí. Eso sí, es mejor escucharla si sabes español y te gusta este tipo de canciones.

In this song they criticise traditional religion, that is to say, the religion of the time of the Inquisition, as well as the current one (and I love that, I am an atheist and I don't find any logic in religion, since it was created because in the past humans couldn't explain things and they gave everything a divine explanation). The point of this post is the part of the song when they clearly say why they write the song, from minute 19 (the song lasts 21 minutes 😳). In that part he doesn't sing, he just talks, and in the back is the melody that I like the most in the song. I'm going to write that part here. Tan solo quería concienciar a la gente que cree en eso. Para nada estoy contra ellos ni contra la religión, al contrario, cada uno tiene derecho a creer en lo que quiera. Lo que no me gusta es cómo se aprovechan los integrantes de la Iglesia de estas personas devotas, incluso llegando a "robarlos" y a radicalizarlos.I just wanted to raise awareness among people who believe in it. Idea: McCoy es un gran doctor, incluso en el universo del Mirror, pero a menudo se ve eclipsado por Spock. Su trabajo nunca está recompensado, y todos piensan que es inútil (es un trabajo que no exige capacidades físicas. La fuerza física en el universo del Mirror es esencial). Spock le obliga a hacer entrenamiento, pero es muy duro con él y lo sobreexplota. McCoy llega a pensar que ser doctor no sirve de mucho en este universo, hasta que salva a Spock de la muerte con sus habilidades médicas y su pericia. A partir de ahí descubre cómo poner cualquier situación peligrosa en su favor en vez de usar la fuerza bruta, y Spock se lo agradece.

Idea: McCoy is a great doctor, even in the Mirror universe, but he is often overshadowed by Spock. His work is never rewarded, and everyone thinks he's useless (it's a job that doesn't require physical abilities. Physical strength in the Mirror universe is essential). Spock forces him to do training, but is very hard on him and over-exploits him. McCoy comes to think that being a doctor is of little use in this universe, until he saves Spock from death with his medical skills and expertise. From there he discovers how to turn any dangerous situation to his advantage instead of using brute force, and Spock thanks him for it.

Lo que quiero llegar a decir, es que ponemos nombres a las cosas en honor a sus descubridores, pero no tenemos en cuenta que son nombres que solo nosotros entendemos.

Bringing this back to Star Trek, the humans on the Enterprise know what they mean when they talk. What about Spock, did he learn all those names to understand the illogical humans he lives with? If he did, he probably doesn't know all of them. And do they have names like that to describe similar things on Vulcan?

Pensando sobre esto también se ve que estas casualidades también ocurren entre nosotros mismos. La manera más clara de verlo es con las unidades de medida de la distancia, el peso o la capacidad. Tenemos metros, millas, yardas, pulgadas... Y cada una de esas unidades se define según un criterio aleatorio (por eso se creó el Sistema Internacional de Unidades).

Dice que estaba enamorado cuando vivía, pero nunca se atrevió a decírselo a quien amaba (en este caso Bones). Cuando canta se dirige a aquellos con quienes vivía (la tripulación del Enterprise) en algunos versos, y en la inmensa mayoría a aquella persona especial (Bones)

It's a song by Mägo de Oz (metal). It's a ballad (I love ballads) sung by someone (in my mind Spock), who has just died. The title From my Heaven clearly reflects that his heaven is different from what is normally thought of. Heaven is understood as the place where you go when you die in Christianity, where God awaits you. But his heaven is different. His heaven is McCoy's mind. I'm going to translate into English the parts I like the most. I have to say that the song won me over from the melody of the beginning with the piano, and every time I listen to it (especially that same melody later in the song but now with an electric guitar), it breaks my heart. Ups, es la primera vez que Spock baila en serio y ha pisado a McCoy, pero Bones no se ha molestado (bastante que el vulcaniano ha aceptado su propuesta)

Spones headcanon. Their love (part 1)

BRIEFLY DESCRIBING THEIR PERSONALITIES

What are they like in love? This is a general question that I like to ask myself a lot. This includes more specific ones: How do they show their love for each other? Who is more affectionate? What do they like to do? Who is the big spoon and the little spoon? ...

Well, I think I have to differentiate between the normal universe and the Mirrorverse. Spock and McCoy are the characters who most resemble themselves in those universes (in personality), but obviously there are differences, and I think those differences are reflected in their relationship.

1. Spock and Mirror McCoy 2. Mirror Spock and McCoy

Normal Spock is logical, calm, thoughtful, thinks long and hard before he acts, and chooses not to use violence. Mirror Spock is forced to use violence (even if he doesn't really like it), is prepared to manipulate to get what he needs, is also thoughtful, but a little less calm (I think), and is still logical.

Spock and Mirror Spock

McCoy, in my opinion, is the most similar in both universes. The normal McCoy is sentimental, somewhat sensitive (even if he doesn't want to show it), cares a lot about others (especially if they are his friends) and would sacrifice himself for them, likes to tease Spock, isn't violent at all (if the situation requires it, he prefers verbal harm) and is brave at times. And the most important trait: he knows how to bring out Spock's emotions. Mirror McCoy is pretty much the same, only he tends to threaten. People are afraid of him because of threats, but they never come true, and if they come true, not by his hand. Spock or Jim are the ones who incite him to torture or hit someone, he almost never decides it on his own. Perhaps he's more fearful than his counterpart, because that universe is terrible (violence everywhere, death if you don't have allies, betrayal...), and he's not so daring with Spock (the Vulcan imposes him quite a lot).
