letting a traumatized character have their happy ending where they can recover from their trauma will always be a thousand times more powerful than killing them off for shock value
No offense but the quote “The truth is what I make it. I could set this world on fire and call it rain.” from the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard is one of the strongest, most impactful, mind-blowing phrases I have ever heard and it’s become one my absolute favourite quotes of all time that is all thanks for your time
Can I watch a great film knowing the actresses in it were terrorized and mistreated the entire time? Can I watch a football game knowing that the players are getting brain injuries right before my eyes? Can I listen to my favorite albums anymore knowing that the singers were all beating their wives in between studio sessions? Can I eat at the new fancy taco place knowing when the building that used to be there got bulldozed eight families got kicked out of their homes so they could be replaced with condos and a chain restaurant? Can I wear the affordable clothes I bought downtown that were probably assembled in a sweatshop with child labor? Can I eat quinoa? Can I eat this burger? Can I drink this bottled water? Can I buy a car and drive to work because I’m sick of taking an hour each way on the subway? Whose bones do I stand on? Whose bones am I standing on right now?
Kill the mentality that a female character is “weak” if she is in love with a man. Love is not weakness.
Also kill the mentality that a female character is “weak” if she is kind and sweet. Kindness is not weakness either.
“She loves the wolf. She does not love the lamb. Not just any wolf. She loves the wolf that is capable of love. It is even more complicated: she loves the wolf who contains, hides or reveals an unexpected sweetness in his violence. The sweetness of the cruel is a greater sweetness.”

And the Skywalkers aren't that much better.
Like they pretty much used Rey as a puppet to take down Palpatine, left her to die, and then when left-for-dead Ben Solo drags his heroic ass from the Star Wars Pit of Despair, looks around desperately for help in saving her, they give a silent, "lol get fucked."
Even Anakin Skywalker, the guy who started this whole mess, who Ben has been calling to for help for years, the man who wanted to do this very thing Ben Solo has to do is like
And not to mention Luke and Leia abandoning a child because he has darkness in him, then adopting a Palpatine whose biggest struggle is her struggle with the dark side.
Like what the fuck?
