Next up is our lovely Chief Marquez and Athena, the character I'm playing as.
Andrea has a 14 in Strength (STR), a 16 in Dexterity (DEX), a 12 in Constitution (CON), a 12 Intelligence (INT), a 10 Wisdom (WIS), and a 10 Charisma (CHA).
Athena has a 10 in STR, a 16 in DEX, a 8 in CON, a 20 INT, a 14 WIS, and a 10 CHA.
Let's explain, shall we?
I won't detail Athena too much unless y'all want to hear about her, the important thing to note is that she, Roxie and Russell, (and technically Amy too.) have their stats done a bit differently. Everyone's stats are done by point buy, meaning there's a set number of points to use to 'buy' points for a stat. The only difference is their racial bonus due to their races being changed from human. I must stress that these aren't Andrea's final stats, just her starting out set. She's a Fighter much like Frank, a 14 in STR for mountain climbing and honestly? I think she should have some power behind her punches, you hurt her crew? Her work family? Better hope you have a strong armor class. A 16 in DEX because let's be honest, I swear she's sneaking up on us to either tell us something or get onto Frank about drinking. A 12 in CON to have a healthy stamina for climbing and late-night paperwork. 12 INT because I'd like to think she's spent a long time in the books after the incident in her childhood, in a pursuit of answers. Her 10 in WIS will be the first to get a boost from her experience in the field! Alas with point buy some stats are sacrificed for the benefit of others. For her 10 in CHA, I'm debating if it should become higher from her leadership role or if it should stay a 10 from her isolating childhood. Thoughts? Athena, dear Athena she's a Sorcerer, her only two stats that I feel should be specified is her INT and CON, due to this being the first I've shown a 20 and an 8. These stats are her current stats, but her 8 CON is permanent for reasons I'll tell if you wanna hear about them. Now the 20 INT? Her base stat is a 15 and her racial bonus gives her a +3 and a 4th level ASI (ability score approvements) give another +2 which makes it a 20. She was supposed to be a Wizard whose spell casting modifier, when she was changed into a Sorcerer, we decided it would be funny if her INT and CHA stayed the same. But no, an INT is important for investigation. I'll be getting into the races I've made everyone in another post!

I plan on doing 2 characters at a time, so next up is Yann and Hannah! Yann has a 10 in Strength (STR), a 14 in Dexterity (DEX), a 12 in Constitution (CON), a 16 Intelligence (INT), a 11 Wisdom (WIS), and a 12 Charisma (CHA).
Hannah has a 10 in STR, a 14 in DEX, a 12 in CON, a 16 INT, a 10 WIS, and a 12 CHA.
The reasoning under the cut!
Both Hannah and Yann have similar stats, it wasn't intentional but now is a good time to mention that these stats are more so their base stats, when the levels from their classes are added the 4th level will allow for either a feat or an ASI (Ability Score Improvement) so that's why Yann's WIS is an uneven number. Yann's an Artificer! The Alchemist subclass to be specific! 10 in STR is just enough to be able to pick up heavy equipment and his kids. The 14 in DEX is useful for his sleight of hand, I imagine it'd be useful for the more delicate lab procedures. A 12 in CON gives him a sturdy nature from living on his own and traveling the world. An Artificer's spellcasting modifier is INT so his 16 in INT reflects that and the knowledge gained from being a Forensic Expert. Now, an 11 in WIS, it's like that for a reason, odd numbers in DND stay on the same modifier as the even number before it, so a 10 and 11 have a +0 modifier when it comes to adding a bonus to a roll. That's also the reason why anything less than a 10 is on the bad side. With an 11 WIS I'm planning on using his 4th level to boost it to a 12, he's able to understand a lot quicker when someone might be upset or the saying of when you get older you get wiser. A 12 CHA is from his kindness, he knows what to say and keeps good conversation. Hannah! She's also an Artificer, but the Artillerist subclass. 10 in STR so she can pick up heavy equipment and her girlfriend with ease. 14 in DEX because I like to think it'd be used for super-fast typing and hacking. A 12 in CON from her time in Inner Chaos, have you seen that base? I'd want a good CON if I was in there. Like Yann an Artificer's spellcasting modifier is INT, the higher the INT the better for the class, hence the 16, and her knowledge and skills in technology from both hacking and becoming a Tech Expert. Hannah is on the younger side of the cast, so she gets a 10 in WIS, she makes good decisions most of the time. Her 12 in CHA is from her time in Inner Chaos, spreading propaganda is easier when you know what to say to earn the people's favor. I'd like to think she made some herself and it wasn't just her spreading what the others made the entire time.

Do you want Ingo and Emmet to reunite in Pokemon Masters?
The game developers have released a player feedback survey, which, among other things, asks what stories and trainers we'd like to see in Masters in the future. Notably, one suggested option is whether we would like "stories that continue the ones in the main Pokémon games". Another asks "what combination of trainers you would most like to see interact in Masters?"
It would be great for all Submas fans to fill it out and suggest that they give closure to Ingo and Emmet's story! There's precedent for such a thing - the long awaited reunion between N and the BW protagonist (Hilbert in Masters) happened in the Story Event "The Ideal Formula" (a YouTube recording of the story can be seen here https://youtu.be/zWyiuVVigMo?si=8UHz6xbcVvgI4URN).
Some reasons you could use to justify why they should let Ingo and Emmet reunite in Masters:
The arrival of Hisuian sync pairs such as Irida, Adaman, Akari and Rei make this interaction plausible and highly anticipated.
Ingo and Emmet are two of the most popular trainers from BW/B2W2, and only got more popular after PLA. They have a massive fanbase, both in Japan and internationally, that would be attracted to the game (and incentivised to pull) if such an event occurred.
Although another version of Ingo already exists on Pasio, similar things have happened before with alts such as Classic Elesa, Champion Iris and Kimono Grimsley (from his appearance in Alola).
One of Masters' greatest strengths is that it is uniquely positioned to deliver character writing and interactions that the main games were not able to address. Such as the aforementioned reunion between the BW protagonist and N. This would utilise that unique space to finally give closure on Ingo and Emmet's unexplained and heartwrenching separation.
But don't feel the need to use my words - use your own! Unique responses are great and also increase the chances that we'll be taken seriously.
So where's the survey link? Well, I would link it, but every user account in Pokémon Masters (when set to English - you can change this in the settings!) has its own unique link with an id generated on the end. The survey technically still works without it but I'd prefer to be on the safe side to make sure our answers count! The survey can be found in your message box (after setting your game language to English as necessary.)
The survey runs from 10/29/2023 11:00 p.m. PT – 11/12/2023 9:59 p.m. PT. So we've got until November 12 to spread the word!
Note that every person can only fill the survey out once.
We nearly got Ingo to be the #1 Tumblr Sexyman. We can do this!
credit to @cefren for the getting the ball rolling on this campaign!
Are fedoras really that bad?
YES YES THEY ARE
Story Update (This serves as both a note for our progress and where to get thoughts out about stats and class choices.)
As we leave the prologue that was Grimsborough, (The two main characters don't meet until the Rorschach Reaper case, but even then, they only get to know each other more in passing. After the other main character joins the fight against Milton, he makes the decision to stay by Athena's side, she's the character I'm playing.) we make our way to Pacific Bay! Pacific Bay is where we (By we I mean the player since he's never heard or played this game.) get to really know the characters now that both main characters are working together, I'll talk about Athena's ability scores another time so let's talk about Amy and Frank! Amy has a 14 in Strength (STR), a 14 in Dexterity (DEX), a 14 in Constitution (CON), a 10 Intelligence (INT), a 10 Wisdom (WIS), and a 14 Charisma (CHA). Frank has a 14 in STR, a 16 in DEX, a 14 in CON, a 10 INT, a 10 WIS, and a 10 CHA.
More details under the cut! I'll get to the others later.
A 10 in a stat isn't bad, it's just average, it's bad when it's under 10 due to the fact it starts to negativity effect the character. I'm making Amy a Fighter/Paladin. STR is a must for a Fighter, I also thought she'd make use of the STR to help her friends and others. Her DEX is high cause I'd think she'd be pretty good on her feet; she's walking around in heels in sand, she's getting a good DEX to keep her footing. CON! More hit points mean she's able to stay in a fight much longer! Protect more! Both her INT and WIS being a 10 is because she's a rookie cop, she knows what she needs to know and can make reasonable decisions, she has room to grow from learning from the main character, which is what she'll be doing. CHA is high because it's the Paladin's spell casting modifier, in this setting it's not nearly as important but CHA is helpful for getting information.
Frank! Frank's a pure Fighter. As mentioned with Amy STR is a must have for Fighters, also he headlocks someone who's like 250lbs, he needs that STR. His DEX is high to help with his sleight of hand skills, for no reason in particular of course. His CON is a 14 because honestly, I feel like he could take some hits, and yeah, it helps determine his ability to handle drinks. INT, WIS and CHA are all spell casting modifiers and while magic does exist in this world, I am a firm believer Frank heavily denies its existence even when it's proven it's real. He knows what he needs to, can make some good decisions and can for the most part does not offend people just by breathing.
