I just really wanted to make a DCA mermaid au, ok? I also put way to much effort into this au lmao- so get ready to read a very long post! XD

Mers and Death au! pt2.

For some context: Both Female and Male mermaids can have kids, it's just easier for Females to get pregnant then it is for Males to. So hypothetically if Sun and Moon did want to have kids they could.

Eclipse and Astro got really lucky when they mated for the first time and ended up having Sun. Granted they both are now convinced that if they ever mate again their gonna end up having another kid, which they don't want, but they don't live with other adult mermaids so no one can tell them otherwise. lol- And Lucifer ain't telling them cuz they just laughed their ass off when they found out about that. [Lucifer used to do research on mermaids a couple years back before they decided to pursue surfing instead.]

Also Mermaids live in pods similar to Orcas [just not as crazy as orcas] And they tend to separate when they want to find a mate. Both Female and Male mermaids have a specific mating call for Male and Females. So if the mermaid prefers males over females they can call for specifically male mates or if they prefer females over males they can call specifically for female mates. It's all up to their preference!

Most mermaids will court each other for a couple months, around 4-6 months before mating. Than they'll mate, and if it's a male & female, the Female will carry the egg for about 4 months before laying it and leaving it with the male before leaving a couple weeks after laying the egg. If it's two males or two females they'll probably mate once or twice more before separating to go back to their pods.

It's not uncommon for mates to join the other mate's pod to raise their young together, but it's more common for the mates to part ways and find different mates when they want to mate again. Astro and Eclipse weren't in pods when they met so they decided to start their own pod when they figured out they were gonna have a pup* [*baby mermaid]

Most mermaids when they start their own pods tend to adopt in abandoned pups and eggs. When Eclipse and Astro started their pod they had planned to have just the three of them in it, But Sun had other plans. When he was a child he would go explore the coral reef where Eclipse and Astro had made their home and bring back a pup or egg he found. He still does this to this day, just not as often.

That's actually how he met Moon, He found him while exploring and decided to befriend him. Sun didn't bring Moon back with him bc Moon still smelled of his parents [who had died just shortly before Sun met Moon. But Sun didn't know that yet.] And after a couple years [young teenagers] they decided they would be each other's mate. So Sun brought Moon back with him to introduce to his parents! Eclipse welcomed Moon with open arms, and was very excited when he found out they were mates. Astro was a bit skeptic of Moon at first but ended up excepting him into the pod as their son-in-law when he noticed how happy he made Sun.

[p.s. this is an au from the game where demons exist, but only extremely powerful/high ranking demons can go & actually survive on earth. Usually demons die from the extreme difference in climate, aka it being to cold on earth for them, Which is why none believed they actually existed/exist. Only the Top Most powerful Demons can change into a more Humanoid form and blend into humans [[which is how they live]. It really is the equivalent of writing fanfics and putting your crush in it lmao-

And Scar gets all kinds of excited whenever Grian talks to him. [it's like a pair of little kids crushing on each other. lol] Especially when Grian, unknowingly, gives him advice on ways to improve his writing.

Everyone else in the bookshop thinks it's adorable that they both are clearly crushing on each other. Mumbo just wants them to get together already. [Mumbo owns the Bookshop]

Au explanation:

Au where the life series is actually a series of books instead of a minecraft smp series. And Grian has fallen head over heels for the book version of Scar[mainly wildlife Scar], not realizing that the book version of Scar is the author's/Scar's persona and that the author always adds a version of Grian into the series as a symbol of his love for him. 'Real Life' Scar and Grian both work in the same bookshop but bc Grian tends to work front desk/check out and Scar works in the back cleaning books and unpacking them, they don't really talk much. But Scar has a massive crush on Grian. Grian's actually Scar's biggest fan, tho he doesn't know Scar is the author of his favorite series, and when Scar & Grian do talk, during their breaks, it tends to be Grian telling Scar about his favorite author's series and it makes Scar really happy to hear that Grian enjoys his writing so much. Grian just hates how the book version of Scar always ends up dying before he can get to tell the book version of Grian that he loves him. Scar finds Grian's rambling and ranting adorable and wishes he had the courage to ask Grian if he would want to meet up outside of work to talk.

Each of the life series are split into 5 books and Wildlife [the latest, and the last one for this au] is only 3 books away from being complete and Grian's worried that his favorite character will have another bad ending. But Scar plans to have his book version and Grian's book version get together at the end of the 5th book. He's hoping even if Grian rejects his confession that he'll at least let his book version finally get the man he's wanted for so long. But luckily for Scar, The only reason Grian actually fell for the book version of Scar is bc it reminds him so much of the actual Scar. So when Scar confesses, he confesses by giving Grian an early copy of the 5th Wildlife book with a note asking Grian if he'll go out with his favorite author, Which causes Grian to finally put the dots together and get really [adorably] excited and say yes.

[And that's all I have figured out for this au so far. I *MIGHT* write a whole story about this once I finish my other story but I'm not sure when that'll be since I've got three chapters left on my other story and i'm having major motivation problems with writing. So for now you guys will just get some adorable art for it instead.]
