i was tired and forgot that the reason why i posted this was to say luz would've gotten waffles as her palisman if flapjack had survived. i am completely making this up and have no evidence but if flapjack was still alive, he would've stayed with hunter - protecting caleb like evelyn would've wanted. luz would've gotten a bird to reconfirm her status as a clawthorne and because of the symbolic meaning of blue jays - confidence, strength, protection, faithfulness etc relating to her as a character. instead of being heavy handed with stringbean's ability to shapeshift in tandem with luz's indecision we would focus on her need for adaptability and freedom, something often associated with birds because of their ability to fly. in this essay i will

when i say i want caleb and evelyn to have luz and hunter's dynamic i mean all of it. word for word bar for bar. i'm imagining caleb approaching evelyn with a pitchfork during their first meeting and being borderline flirty when he threatens her like hunter was before he was unmasked. caleb calling evelyn witch until he warms up to her and calls her by her name. evelyn telling her friends she met a human that she thinks is secretly good deep down, a bad but sad boy. hear me out hear me OUT

i forgot to put chapter 5 of burn here because i've been losing my mind over the finale + i started writing chapters 6&7 concurrently and drafting another fic... once again wishing i was sane about them

i want everyone to know that every time you interact with this post i take psychic damage. i'm being forced to remember that the only way evelyn and caleb could be free from the cycle of caleb being abused, killed and resurrected was to not end up together. i know belos is in hell rn laughing at the implication that all the pain caleb endured was because he chose evelyn and it only stopped when he didn't. what am i supposed to do with this

genuinely can’t stop thinking about the fact that phillip felt so betrayed by caleb choosing evelyn over him that he killed his own brother and every time he tried to resurrect his brother through cloning him, the cycle continued. every time, every single time caleb was brought back to life, he’d meet a wild witch—he’d meet evelyn—and choose her over phillip every time. it didn’t matter how much phillip tried isolating or directing or controlling caleb, the result was inevitable

and after continuously choosing to leave phillip behind, the one lifetime where evelyn and caleb meet and they don’t choose each other, then they’re finally free from the curse. a final love letter from evelyn to caleb, setting him free from his brother even if now they won’t get to be together in this lifetime. the level of brain rot i’m experiencing just thinking about this

it's so important to me how Luz parallels Evelyne.

it's so important to me that she introduces Hunter to Flapjack the same way Evelyne did to Caleb, it's so important to me that Luz and Evelyne are both (to quote) "a witch from another world" that dazzled Hunter and Caleb using wild magic, it's SOOOOOO important to me that Belos continues to hunt after Luz and Hunter like he did with Caleb and Evelyne, it's so important to me that the first time Belos saw Flapjack with Hunter he said Caleb's name and the second time he saw Flapjack with Luz he said Evelyne's name. i have an old zutara draft that's essentially unsalvageable-i never hammered down any important components of the plot so i was just writing some angst aimlessly and hoping it would all come together in the end.. which it never did. but thank god i kept the notes on that because so much of it works even better for lunter

it’s actually funny how i couldn’t come up with any canon compliant fic ideas for luz & hunter but the finale gave me such a good idea for them in the future 😮‍💨 i try to take a little more time with drafting but i might just speed run this so i can get it posted
