Fanfic is a free hobby.

It's one of the last few things we can have as a society that's free. You can engage, for free. People give you things (art, stories, etc), for free.

Don't buy into the consummerism just because it's everywhere else.

You don't have to consume everything you interact with. You don't have to use things, just because they exist.

You're allowed (still, for now), to have things that are enjoyable for free.

Do you realise how insane the world is? We don't have many places where we can just be, for free anymore, but ao3 is. Did you notice we don't have ads in ao3? We don't have pop ups? Where ELSE do we not have that?

Where else can you just go and not have to wait for a commercial to be over or for ads to be on the sidelines?

I don't think the younger people understand, but the whole of internet used to be like this. YouTubers would do Youtube for free, just because. You couldn't monetise your internet presence before.

Ao3 is like a little preserved corner of the internet where the old internet used to be, and it's being attacked by people who do not understand that free things are allowed to exist without judgment.

Please don't ruin this for us.

Some of us need it.

Art Critic: the skull in the corner is artfully placed on the periphery of vision to symbolise the omnipresence of death, important thematically to the artist’s conception of life and mortality.

Ithya app!

Ithya App!

So this is kinda cool! I just learned that Blue Turtle, a terrific illustrator and animator who produces whimsical animations set to relaxing or adventurous low-fi music, is releasing a background app that features their heroine Ithya, a young mage who travels with world perusing libraries and exploring ruins as she studies and learns about magic. I've been listening to Blue Turtle's music for years, and I'm actually kind of excited to see this kind of content of our heroine and her whimsical world.

ok I've got thoughts about this

I read somewhere that the Hogwarts house isn't what you are, but what you would like to be (example Neville, wasn't brave at all but eventually became that since it was his dream). So, the question is, while she is definitely ambitious and curious, if she'd rather be successful (in her case, getting rid of the ancient magic) or knowledgeable. She loves learning about cultures and the magical world, but her ancient magic is always gonna be a priority.

So... Slytherin?

Hey so you seem to have ten thousand OCs and I need to ask someone this so might as well ask the expert:

My OC Leandra's ancient magic is different. If she doesn't use it up, it causes a huge abrupt burst and endangers the people around her. Long story short, she HATES it and her main goal is to get rid of it.

Which house would she be in? I'd say it's between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Slytherin because she's basically willing to do anything to reach her goal of getting rid of her magic, Ravenclaw because she's also curious and reads for fun and wants to know all about the magical world (one of the motives being that she can get rid of her magic)

What do you think? :D

Hello! Sorry for the late reply—I had to really think about it pretty much all day to figure out which house Leandra should be in, but I finally decided. I think the best house for her is Slytherin because she truly has all the qualities that fit that house.

What really surprised me is that she doesn’t want her Ancient Magic. All of my MCs actually do want to embrace their Ancient Magic, but I completely understand why Leandra doesn’t. I actually like that about her—it’s powerful character depth.

I really like the way you’ve written it too, how she doesn’t use her Ancient Magic but it can still burst out of her, especially when she’s overwhelmed—and that can hurt the people around her. That makes it even more understandable why she wants to get rid of it. It’s actually a good thing that she’s so aware and doesn’t want to harm anyone. So yeah, I definitely see why she wants to be free of it.

I hope this helps you and oh my gosh you called me an expert. (Joking) I’m actually shocked. I’m not really an expert but I try my best but thank you for calling me an expert but yeah I really hope this solves it and if it doesn’t, I’m very sorry. 😰

Hogwarts Legacy Meets DND

Roll For Initiative!
Roll For Initiative!
Roll For Initiative!
Roll For Initiative!

Been drawing DND peeps for an upcoming campaign I’ll be playing in, and I ran out of characters. (All two of them.)

So now you guys get to enjoy . . .

Lyssa the Ranger, Sebastian the Warlock, Poppy the Druid, and Natty the Paladin.

So I guess art prompt for you bored lovelies out there needing something to draw: I want to see your HL MCs and OCs as DND characters! What class (and subclass I s’pose) would they be?

Bonus: The other characters I’ve been drawing. A tiefling sorcerer and an astral-high elf warlock.

Roll For Initiative!
Roll For Initiative!

Trying to keep this blog 99% Hogwarts-related, so I wouldn’t post these otherwise. But I’m proud of them. 10 points to your house of choice if you can guess which one is mine :)

The first five panels of a digital comic of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa from the Star Wars Franchise. In the first panel, Luke is holding a holo-pad saying "Leia, come look at this," with a small intrigued Leia in the background. The next panel shows Leia now standing behind Luke asking "What is it?". There is also a small image of what's on the holo-pad, a group photo of Ahsoka, Rex, Anakin, Padme, and Obi-wan. Luke explains, "Ahsoka sent it", and Leia utters "Oh, wow...". The third panel shows a close up of their faces, Leia continues "They're so young". In the next panel Luke clarifies as he sets down the pad, "It's from the clone wars. The end... I think,". In the last panel of the first page Luke begins to ask, "How close before... do you think...", and Leia cuts him off "Don't. Please,". Luke is colored in a light teal and Leia is colored in a pastel purple pink.
The second page of the comic. In the first panel Leia looks away, saying "I don't want to think about that right now,". In the next, Luke looks up to her, setting his hand on the one she rests on his shoulder. There is another small panel of them squeezing each other's hands. The fourth panel shows Luke getting up from where he was sitting, saying "C'mon, Han and Chewie just got back right?". The final panel shows them hugging as they walk away. Leia explains, "I know what you're doing, just know I'm letting you," and Luke replies "Okay, Leia,". The holo-pad lays left on the desk.
A digital illustration of the picture on the holo-pad in the previous comic. Padme and Rex stand in front with gentle smiles, Padme in her purple "liberty dies" dress and Rex donning his usual armor. Anakin and Obi-wan lean in behind them, as Ahsoka smiling in her siege of Mandalore outfit makes bunny ears behind Rex. It is in full color with a hologram texture. At the bottom is text in both English and Aurebesh that reads "May the Fourth be with you".

May the fourth be with you!!! 💫✨
