probably dumb idea: sonic having some amount of actual hedgehog instincts/behaviors, and assuming that shadow also does because he's also a hedgehog, and thinking that they're on the same wavelength in that regard.

but they aren't, and shadow doesn't. for all intents and purposes, he isn't actually a hedgehog, he was just created to look like one. but his dna is from black doom so he has his own weird alien behaviors.

this obviously leads to confusion and maybe frustration because shadow doesn't pick up on the subtle implications of sonic's social behaviors, and sonic doesn't understand why and misinterprets shadow's behaviors in turn.

it's like an allegory for autism, except shadow also just actually has literal autism so really either way these social cues are going way over his head

Growing up, I loved Sonamy. Looking back now, she kinda irritates me most of the time. I hope they do her character better in Sonic 4.

Anyway learning that she was originally significantly younger than Sonic makes more sense to me. A lil girl with an unrequited crush on the cool older boy. Sonic not knowing how to handle that so just running away from her and being a lil mean.

Now I'm imagining as they get older and Sonic and Shadow get closer and start to come to terms with their feelings, Amy notices. Comes to term with her own feelings, growing, and becoming a true friend and confidant for Sonic.

Maybe even realizing what he feels for Shadow is what she feels for Blaze...
