BOWYNN GODS: Tii Vadell

Tii Vadell  (Ty Vah-del)  Malicious giant-like spirits much like the northern European Trolls. They are also a creation of Mano in his war against Kord and Brand. The Tii Vadell are said to be giant hairless monsters that are mostly nocturnal with skin like stone. They are also said to be sacred off my fire and light in general. Brand slew one only through the cunning of luring it to stand on his campfire.

     Like other Tii, Tii Vadell should never be called upon for any reason or service. They are too slow to understand and will just cause havoc around anyone they see.  And as with all Tii. once invoked, they will never leave. 

Bowynn Gods: The Aetennii

Aetennii  (Ae-ten-ni)  The Aetennii are guardian Kii (spirits) of Bowynn cemeteries and protectors of tombs and cemetaries. These Kii are bird size and are much like the typical Kii with bird wings. They do not accompany the deliverer of the dead, Heron but will often signal to Heron that a loved one was just laid to rest, and its soul and spirit require his assistance. The Aetennii do not serve the soul, spirit or body but instead the cemetery itself and the tombs within. Making sure they do not suffer damage, be it natural or manmade.

Typically, images of the Aetennii are placed on the entrance way of the cemetery but also on the tombs themselves. In the Bowynn tradition, any bird seen in a cemetery is an Aetennii in disguise, particularly if a heron is with them.

Flowers and libation are gifted to the Aetennii my grounds keepers monthly and their images are cleaned and polished up.

Bowynn Gods: Ion

Ion  (Eye-on)  Ion is the God patron of knights and god of knighthood virtues. The son of Anhur and Rhya, Ion is the right hand of Anhur, the god king’s eyes, ears and messenger. But foremost, Ion is the god that keeps the sacred virtues in check and sees that people are adhering to the virtues set down by Bia and Anhur. While these days Ion can also be seen as a god patron of all soldiers, he would he would be more leaning towards those that whom serve high and special ranks. Especial those like the Guard of Unknown Soldiers, Guards of Kings, Queens and Presidents and other prestigious positions.

      Many sacred tales of Ion and his exploits are told. The most famous being the days when Ion spent his seven days with the first mortals to teach them might and right and to honor the virtues set done by his father. Another tale speaks of a troop of 10 soldiers that fought for ten days straight without food, water or rest against invaders. After the long battle was at-last won, their deeds were caught by Ion. In turn he knighted them with special titles and blessed them. This was mortal man’s first knighthood. Another tale speaks of a time many years later; a knight that was blessed by Ion had grown to see over 100 years. And in all those years, he had ever held vigil over the god’s temple and fought to protect his hometown. On his death bed Ion came to the old man. He asked who would watch over his town. Ion gave the knight his greatest blessing, that of immortal sight, turning the old man into a star and naming him Arnmor, The North Star. That way, even though dead, he could always watch the good people, year round.

     Ion is often seen and depicted as a young man, a warrior. And he is dressed as such, partially armored with a long sur-coat over his armor. In one hand Ion bears a shield, in the other a sword. But he is not to be feared and is not a god to wage war. In Alaway his position is next to his father Anhur. When not in his godly form, Ion takes the form of a greyhound. Sacred offerings to Ion is incense and votive images of dogs

Myst: (Witch) A Myst pertains to anyone that practices the mystical, arcane, esoteric arts.

Baear: (Altar) The sacred table/tablet where one prays to the divine and leaves offerings.

Tymon: (Shrine) A smaller and more secure form of a Temple and Altar all in one.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: Holy Book

QUESTION: Is there a type of holy book like a Bible or Koran in the Bowynn tradition?

ANSWER: Up until 2003 there was no such text, though many of us wrote down the information we had experienced and we would share it amongst each other. Eventually its was condenced into one binder that circulated between all of us. At the time we had 22 members strong. In late 2003 The Bowynn "Codex" was formed. It contains information on the gods, as well as all meditations, ceremonies, rituals and rites. The Codex is NOT a Myst's [witch's] book.

My Personal Prayer to Anhur

O revered Anhur, King of the Gods, who presides over the hearts of men and the deeds of mortals, I kneel before your wisdom and bountiful spirit. As the scepter of law rests in your grasp, may your voice guide me in the paths of virtue and justice, and may your watchful gaze shield my family beneath the wings of protection and grace. O Anhur, embodiment of order and moral strength, crowned in the bountiful leaves of the Maple Tree, I offer my humble heart and supplications. You, who traverses the earth and the air, lend your ears to my pleas. Grant me courage in the face of adversities, and guide my footsteps along the path of righteousness. May I uphold the virtues you cherish and stand firm in the name of justice. With offerings of sincerity and gratitude, I present my words before you, great Anhur—sacred totem of the wolf, steadfast guardian of families. May my heart echo the principles of honor and truth you embody, as I strive to foster peace and love within my home. In every counsel I provide and every decision I make, may I reflect your wisdom.

O wise Anhur, as I navigate the trials of life, bestow upon me the insight to discern the just from the unjust, to protect the vulnerable, and to champion the cause of the oppressed. In times of conflict, may my spirit remain unwavering, guided by the light of your virtues. Let not fear overshadow my resolve, for I carry your strength within me. In the spirit of community, I call upon the essence of Alaway, the magnificent hall where gods gather in unity, leaving behind their discord. May love and respect flourish among my kin and strengthen the bonds that tie us. Let us feast together in joy, sharing not only our harvests but our hearts, reflecting the harmony you instill in us all. O Anhur, greatest of fathers and protector of the just, as I tread the paths of life, may your spirit walk alongside me, granting peace to my household and justice in my actions. May the legacy of your reign inspire hope and virtue in my heart, guiding my steps as I endeavor to uphold the sanctity of family, the strength of communities, and the harmony of the earth. So shall it be, under the watchful and loving eye of our King.

The Bowynn Gods: The Entenn

Entenn  (Ah-ku-ah)  The Entenn are the great tree and forest Kii. [spirits] They are literally “Tree folk” that guard great forests. The Entenn are made up of trees so unlike other Kii, they are not mobile, as they have no legs nor feet. Being of a tree, they are naturally huge in size, but one can assume that there are small Entenn as well. Most Entenn will never reveal themselves to mortal men; instead, they will stand perfectly still and mix in with the normal trees.         

Blessed Winter Solstice

Hello! I stumbled across your blog and I’ve never heard of Bowynn. Tried doing some research and can’t seem to come up with anything. I’m hoping if you could tell me where Bowynn comes from I could get a lead, if you don’t mind :)

In short, the Bowynn tradition is tradition that was started by very close friends and I back in the 1980's back on Long Island NY. The information gathered and comprised here comes from endless hours, days, years and decades of meditation, vigils and prayers. Not to mention several encounters of divine intervention. The tradition has become much more than just a faith as time progressed but in general, it is indeed and faith-based religion.

In the far past we had tried to bring it up in various groups and sites but we were always knocked down by someone "Oh you stole this from a roleplaying game." and other junk. So, after a while, we just kept it on the quiet. For no other reason than to avoid ridicule. So no, you will not find much at all about it on the internet. Though I know there is some old art and articles that were stolen from old postings on places like Facebook, Deviantart and SpellsofMagic being spread about over the years by non Bowynn.

So, at this point, the only place to get information is here on my/our page. I hope that helps. Thanks for the inquiry.
