Mirabel & Vanellope
Good morning, afternoon, or evening to anyone reading this!
My boyfriend and I have added to our Disney Descendants multi-crossover AU.
In addition to our original characters, we have established a timeline for the AU, and changed up the backstories of canon characters, one example being Vanellope Von Schweetz.
In our Disney Descendants AU, Vanellope Von Schweetz is actually Vanessa Madrigal, as she is Mirabel Madrigal's daughter. "Vanellope Von Schweetz" is her screen name. She was born right between Belle and the Beast's wedding and the formation of Auradon, making her, according to the timeline of our AU, three-and-a-half years older than Prince/King Ben(her exact date of birth is November 27, 1995) . She is one of a set of triplets, and she has two brothers. I will elaborate about them in another post.
She is one of the very first graduates/alumni of Auradon Prep(Class of 2014). At the time of the Descendants franchise, she is in university, studying mechanical engineering.
I will provide details of the events of the Wreck It Ralph movies in our AU in another post.

In addition, we have inserted canon characters' children, changing the backstories of some canon characters. I will provide separate posts for each character.

On Sunday I was in our shop at Sherwood Forest Faire, a Renaissance festival near Austin. A family came in with two sons around age 6 or 7. I was wearing my wide brimmed, wool felt Cavalier hat, that's olive green and weathered and dusty. I also had on a thin green wool cloak, wrapped up around my shoulders and pinned in place.
One of the boys says to me, "You look like that guy from Indiana Jones."
I inquired which guy that might be. "Indy's friend. The one who's crazy."
I thought for a moment and realized that he was talking about Harold "Ox" Oxley from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, portrayed by accomplished actor John Hurt.
So, apparently I look like an older, crazy John Hurt.
Yeah, I'll take that.
Half Past Danger, Long Past time
Half Past Danger Issue #1 - Review by Emmet O'Brien Torn from every cliffhanger comic strip, blessed with the same breathless energy as a matinee serial and full of dynamic energy, Stephen Mooney's Half Past Danger is an absolute delight and easily one of the most fun comics being put out at the moment. It's the province of pulp to throw element after element at you and for any thrill seeking heart a comic that packs in retro hi-jinx, femme fatales and "War is (Prehistoric) Hell" asides will charm a particular sort of reader. Comics can be so dour and psychological these days, deconstructing but not celebrating. Now I must admit, my own particular sensibilities run alongside this tonal tornado as a kid weaned on, Indiana Jones, Tintin, The Phantom, Ka-Zar, Doc Savage and their ilk and despite a resolutely Irish hero in HPD's Tommy Flynn the DNA is easy to isolate as being of a very American flavoured action story. It's the Irish aspect that adds a little extra spice to this brew of disparate action tropes. The story of an Army Squad coming face to face with dinosaurs while on patrol on an isolated Japanese Island, the book is fast paced and dangerous, a tricky thing to establish legitimate peril while having a tongue very much in its cheek but it succeeds with roguish aplomb. If anything almost too much happens, Flynn finds himself traumatised after the Jurassic jaunt and is drowning his sorrows in New York when he is approached by two mysterious British military types, one being a Steve Rogers-esque bruiser while the other is an alluring dame. Pitched at a hyper real level with Mooney's art at its current apex (we can only imagine the more settled he becomes in this world, the even more vibrant the art will become) this is the sort of comic I have been waiting for, for a very long time. Beautifully punched up with Jordie Bellaire's superlative colouring skills, further adding a timeless old world sheen, one can get lost in the tones and textures of the mad-cap world Flynn has to navigate through. With just enough intrigue to hook but not overwhelm and spectacle aplenty, this is derring-do, daringly done right. Heavy and i mean HEAVY FNAF interest. If i had the space, time, money, etc. my life would be FNAF.
I also have a similar interest in the fluffy friends that are CAREBEARS. This goes for the show, movies, games and mostly the teddy bears.

i love a good senile boyfriend. he may not be physically old but mentally he is at least 85 and he’s always convinced someone is after him.
what’s even better is that he DOES need glasses, he’s just half blind on his adventures and probably doing some awkward fumbling that we don’t see. if i saw my cute archeology professor half naked, half blind, and trying to use a whip as his main weapon, i’d also be turned off.
I think if indiana jones' adoring students ever went on an Adventure(tm) with him it would be really funny if that was the turn off. like, a routine dig he was leading for the school goes awry and he has to get all cocky gunslinger ladies man hero mode and the students are like. hey what the fuck. his shirt gets ripped up revealing he's jacked and that one girl is immediately wiping the 'I love you' make up off her eyes. an entire room filled with artifacts gets destroyed while they make an escape and the kids are all horrified. "professor jones. how many people have you killed" "well, do you count the damn nazis as people-" "UNFORTUNATELY YES. LEGALLY YES. ARE ALL ARCHEOLOGISTS MURDERERS." he's flirting with some random woman on the dig and all the students are like what the hell. you can't talk like that. where did the droning and stutter go. why are you not flustered. she inevitably swoons into his arms or something and they're like "oh my God eww he's so sweaty. ma'am literally what's wrong with you. blink twice if you need help". they're so betrayed to find out he never even NEEDED glasses, he was wearing nonprescription lenses in class. Indy's lowkey hurt he's like I thought you guys thought I was cool :( and they're like 'yeah when you're in a bowtie and telling us about sumarian gardening techniques. WHY do you have a whip right now you freak'
