The man has spoken.

George Martin throwing shade on Ryan again.

"I don't want to hire some other writer to have his version. I want my version. I want to get a director on it who loves the material”

Lmfao what Ryan wrote for S3 that got Martin so pisssed?

Bad news for me:

I'm out of work.

Good news for y'all:

I'm out of work!

Since I have a lot more time on my hands now until I can find another way to make money, perhaps even find a way to follow my dream of monetizing my writing, I can get back to publishing storys on here.

While I haven't been updating on here it's not because I stopped writing but mostly because I had redirected what little creative flow I had (after the trainwreck that was season 2) into writing scripts for my own version of House of the Dragon / Fire and Blood shows.

I currently do not plan to release those, at least not until S3 is out, but I have regained more motivation for writing so I'm back starting today.

I'll be releasing my teased one-shot "Broken Bonds | Maelor x f!highborn!reader x Aemond x Aegon" that I had teased A LONG time ago here tomorrow.

Don't hate me for the long wait please. Its just the first (and so far only) type of story that I have written like that. The latter half of it hits a sore spot in me and I struggle to continue writing and editing when I'm crying lol. That's why I usually just write horny storys or some drama.

But this story is one that I do want to share with others so I am now pushing myselt to stop re-editing it time and time again in an attempt to get it "perfect" and just post it. It will be the first thing to go online after I've finished editing and will be followed either by new Chapters of Mother's Madness or a new story called Redemotion (Maegor x f!noble!reader).

See you soon. Love y'all <3

rhaenyra placed a bounty on maelor's head, causing his death. which then caused helaena to commit suicide. maelor and hel's death are 100% on rhaenyra. how convenient for her that maelor was cut from the show.

“Daemon died fighting for his Queen!”

Did he though?

To me, he did exactly the opposite of fighting for her at the end.

Here is what Daemon knew:

He could stand a chance to fight Aemond and survive if he did it with Nettles, leaving him the chance (at the very least) to then fight the rest of the greens.

Rhaenyra then sent for Nettles head, and he would not stand for that so he let her escape. That’s when he decided to fight Aemond, though he stood no chance to survive (let’s not kid ourselves by saying that Daemon was just that powerful. He only killed Aemond by killing himself).

At this point the news of Ulf and Hugh being turncloaks have reached him, and for all he knew Silverwing and Vermithor were approaching Kings Landing, with Tessarion. Making a much larger threat than Vhagar, a threat that would be responded with Seasmoke, Syrax and Tyraxes at most, and he would not think Tyraxes would join and maybe even doubt Syrax.

Dreamfyre also resided in the pit at that point, and while Helaena was no fighter, and for all purposes mad at this point, that made the greens dragon advantage enermous.

——————

TB:

Tyraxes (small)

Seasmoke

Syrax (unlikely to fight)

Caraxes (if Daemon were to join)

TG:

Vermithor

Silverwing

Dreamfyre

Tessarion

———————

We obviously know that Hugh and Ulf would turn again, and then + Addam and Daeron would die with Silverwing being the only survivor.

But he didn’t. He only knew that they had turned and were fighting with the greens, and he still decided to send Nettles away knowing he stood no chance of living.

To me, he did not die for Rhaenyra. He died because he gave Nettles the chance to flee. While knowing that Rhaenyra was pretty much mad, and was going to lose.

All in all, their decision to remove Nettles is entirely idiotic in my opinion.

“Daemon Died Fighting For His Queen!”

You deserved so much better than that.

I know it's been months and we're all done complaining about House of the Dragon, but it was just such a wasted opportunity to not follow the book canon of the Greens being beloved of the people.

Even if they still wanted to frame the show with Rhaenyra as our star and character to root for, framing Aegon as a full blown antagonist just doesn't have the same dynamic storytelling that GRRM creates. Aegon being an inept king is absolutely not the same thing as him being disliked. Inept political leaders become populists and demagogues all the time. Framing Aegon as someone without real leadership or intelligence BUT with magnanimity and charisma makes him a much more real threat. Rhaenyra would be the better monarch, but as a woman and as less charming, she fails to get the support of the people. It's topical.

If they followed through on the scene of Aegon holding court, clearly reveling in the fact that the people love him, it creates a more interesting character motivation. Aegon didn't even want to be King, so the war to keep him on the throne feels wildly futile, but Aegon fighting to keep the love he's always been desperate for, that's compelling.

Plus, Helaena as a beloved queen would have furthered the themes around gender that season one created. She's meek and pleasant and pretty, so people love her. Rhaenyra as fiery and lusty and powerful, so people hate her. It's topical, it's dynamic, and it actually says something about the perception of gender as a performance in which you are punished for not participating.

And this isn't me saying "wow the show needed more misogyny; they needed to be nicer to the pretty princess" I'm saying it's a show about misogyny, so like, do something with that.

having one faction being written as only heroic and awesome and the other being written as only villainous and awful negates the original message of grrm’s original work, btw. it’s kind of interesting to see how these characters are written (the greens being a dysfunctional family who don’t seem to like each other vs the blacks being given positive traits that belong to the greens in the books, or simply not writing things if the source material that could make the blacks seem not heroic) and how fans take this very seriously. it’s partly a result of the marketing strategy for season two, the whole “everyone much choose a side thing” because that’s… not the point of this war, at all. but it’s also the writing and it’s very deliberately very obviously pro targaryen, especially with the whole “aegon conquered westeros for the good of the world” thing they have going on. which is an incredibly strange take. i think it’s really telling when you compare how the tragedies are written. rhaenyra’s loss of her children is obviously and rightfully tragic. her journey in episode one of season two was so tragic and so beautiful because you don’t hear her speak until the end of the episode, when she finally realizes her son is gone. but you also have her riding a dragon immediately after giving birth to her stillborn daughter, who is never mentioned again, if i recall correctly, and that doesn’t seem… possible. but with the greens, you have a very horrific and traumatic event via the brutal murder of jaehaerys being reduced to two silly men committing a crime, when that crime was the beheading of, like, a five year old. you then have his grandmother having sex while this is happening, in an attempt to blame her for it, which is genuinely so infuriating. idk why i made this post, i saw that season two wasn’t even nominated for best television drama and i was just like. yeah i know that’s right. you cannot expect an show adaptation of a very well-known series from a very well-known author to do well when you completely ignore the original source material and then claim your interpretation is better or the truth. it’s simply insisting on itself and it’s simply pissing on the tragedy of the dance of the dragons and it’s simply exhausting.

Bowing her head in defeat, Queen Alicent surrendered the keys to the castle and ordered her knights and men-at-arms to lay down their swords. “The city is yours, Princess,” she is reported to have said, “but you will not hold it long. The rats play when the cat is gone,

I think what makes me adore Alicent so much here is that, for better or worse she refuses to give up. She refuses to call Rhaenyra Her Grace or Queen at this moment of triumph for her, but instead basically calls her a rat who will not have Kingslanding for long.

Throw Back To Season 2 Episode 1 When I Fucking Called That The Show Runners Framed It As Comedic But

Throw back to season 2 episode 1 when I fucking called that the show runners framed it as comedic but people thought that ‘nooo they wouldn’t do that, there’s nothing funny about dead kids’ well lookie here! They wanted it to be comedic despite the tragedy.

Vindication is sweet but knowing this was their intentions puts a sour taste in my mouth.

“All the men in the show don’t have to worry about where they put their hands because they’re constantly holding the pommel of their sword. That obviously sounds like innuendo and you can do with that what you will but that is true. And all the rest of us are going, “Where do we put our f—king hands?”

Anyway, next year one hand is going to be taken care of. That’s what I want. I want a sword and I’ve been really clear about that with Ryan and I think that’s happening.”

(posted by the westerosies account on twitter)

Apparently that's was Emma's request which tells me exactly how much bullshit the entire cast has been fed by these writers lol. And it's not even a valid reason?!? Like, you're changing the character even more than you already have just because an actor doesn't know where to...put their...hands??? I can hear the circus music playing🤡

God forbid you lean on a chair or twist your rings! I mean it's not that bad but a sword isn't something to just give a character out of no where. Like I could think of several things she could carry or play with instead, rings, necklaces, dagger, but not a sword when she isn't trained!

There will be nothing more disappointing and honestly, offensive as the decision to change Alicent's motivation for putting Aegon on the throne from protecting her children from inevitable bloodshed of those too priveleged to consider the consequences of their actions to "Viserys told me so".

Driftmark was the perfect launch point for her character and its insane that she can watch Vaemond be killed for what she knows is the truth, know Rhaenyra allowed her son to be maimed for what she knows is the truth, and STILL feel indebted to this shitty family of inbred dragon riders.

Idk The Difference Between The Two Is Kinda Funny To Me.
Idk The Difference Between The Two Is Kinda Funny To Me.

idk the difference between the two is kinda funny to me.

in the book, the riots happened organically without any scheming. the rumors of helaena's "murder" simply spread quickly, probably because of how shocking it was, and because of the fact that helaena was beloved. grrm confirmed it. something like that happening feels believable.

in the show, not only was their version kinda nonsensical for many reasons, but it only really happened thanks to mysaria's plotting. first elinda massey literally has to sneak into kingslanding (which like wtf) so the white worm's spies know to spread false rumors, and then she arranges for food to be secretly sent to kingslanding in rhaenyra's name to incite them.

the show basically had to create a reason or give for them rioting in rhaenyra's name, despite how silly it was and also overlooking the fact that rhaenyra is the reason for the blockade in the first place. (yes, they have alicent give the explanation that it is natural for people to blame the crown, but its very interesting how nobody among the smallfolk sees through the propaganda) versus the book where there was no need to manufacture some sense of loyalty to helaena because it already existed.

I don't know why this needs to be said, but not a single woman who exists in the world of asoiaf, needs to learn as an adult woman, that the patriarchy will not protect her. Every single woman in that world by the time they reach adulthood, are fully aware that they are at the will of the men around her and can only navigate as best she can regardless of that.

And a woman who was maritally raped at 15 and forced to give birth to 4 children before the age of 20, certainly does not need to learn this lesson in the second season of the show when she's in her 30's. Alicent Hightower was fully aware that men will not protect her. That the patriarchy will not protect her. And that she needs to stand alone amongst those men and do as best she can regardless of what obstacles she will face from those men along the way.

Alicent learned that lesson already and it was literally the entire fucking point of this scene:

Just a few hard pills to swallow about the Westerosi succession for Team Black stans.

The Greens weren't at all delusional or selfish to expect Aegon to be named heir.

As a matter of fact, the firstborn sons of lords and kings become heirs the moment they were born, and without the need for specification. It doesn't matter if the first wife, or the second, or the tenth, has given birth to said son. So when Otto and Alicent advocated for Aegon's birthright, they asked for a basic thing in their time and society. No matter how much people want to ignore this fact and call Aegon 'usurper', his claim was very real and very strong. This is why he, his sons and his brothers would have found themselves on the Wall at best and dead at worst even if they had adhered to Viserys's whims.

Lucerys has zero claim to Driftmark. And no, being the great-great-whatever grandson of Alyssa Velaryon doesn't make the slightest difference.

Not even legitimisation would have helped Luke retain his Velaryon heirship because he isn't a Velaryon. Period. The argument about his being Alyssa Velaryon's descendant, which is somehow supposed to justify the actual usurpation of the other House's seat, is one of the most nonsensical takes I've seen. Naturally, the noble Houses intermarry all the time. If every lord opened his pedigree and decided that he has a claim to his great-grandmother's family's castle, Westeros would drown in blood. That's why succession laws exist, as unfair as they can be. For some reason, I don't see people saying that Doran Martell should be crowned king because he's descended from Daenerys Targaryen.

Women in Westeros can and do inherit. Rhaenyra isn't special.

As the Andal law goes, a son inherits before a daughter, and a daughter inherits before an uncle. While the male primogeniture is a thing, there's a clear clause of female inheritance. Cersei becomes the Lady of Casterly Rock when her brothers are out of picture. Rhaenys operated on the same law while trying to get her lawful heirship. There are cases when uncles attempt to steal their nieces' birthright (as in the situation with Sansa Stark and her uncle Jonnel), but plenty of women do rule their ancestral seats. Saying that Rhaenyra is the first woman to be named heir is wildly inaccurate.

If Rhaenys had ascended the Iron Throne instead of Viserys, the matters of succession wouldn't have changed.

For some reason many people believe that Rhaenys's ascension would have magically wiped out male primogeniture (same for Jace if he had become king). I'm sorry to disappoint, but Laenor would have been Rhaenys's heir, not Laena. The latter would have been made one only if Laenor had met his canon fate and died with no legitimate issue. As I mentioned earlier, Rhaenys strived to get her inheritance based on Andal law, according to which she does have an advantage over her uncle Baelon and his sons. If she had been the older sister of Viserys and Daemon, she wouldn't have pressed her claim. By the same logic, if Viserys had never remarried, Rhaenyra would have had a legal advantage over Daemon (though Jaehaerys's 'brilliant' management of Rhaenys vs Viserys debate might have gotten in the way).

The Greens are pro Andal law, not anti women in power.

And these are two different things since, as it had already been said, the Andal law does include a clause of female inheritance. So no, it isn't hypocritical of Alicent to offer to make Baela heiress of Driftmark. Laenor is dead without legitimate children. Laena is equally dead. The circumstances make Baela a very viable candidate for the Velaryon heirship.

baela not wanting or caring about driftmark for herself or rhaena is soo emblematic of hotd s2’s aversion to having women involved in any kind of compelling conflict its insane. noo grandpa you can name the toddler i have every reason to believe my aunt cheated on my uncle to get and then had my uncle unceremoniously murdered so she could immediately marry my dad. i dont mind ❤️. failing that i’m sure your bastard son my grandma went out of her way to say i dont mind im not a bitch wife cheat on me at sea all you like ❤️ about is free. youd think either of these scenarios might be ripe for exploration of this shows purported theme of how male-line inheritance degrades the family’s women telling them they’re inherently lesser than their male counterparts but no

The way the show runners and TB stans (specifically Rhaenyra stans) want me to sympathize with Rhaenyra when she is rude, spoiled, has made no sacrifices besides that of her own people, and is THE definition of a Nepo baby, is wild when you add in the fact they want me to hate Alicent. You know Alicent, the girl who was forced into a marriage against her will, a girl who was a victim of marital rape, the girl who by the age of 20 was raising all FOUR of her children while Rhaenyra was pregnant with her FIRST?

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either. Cause out of those two options I will always sympathize with a character like Alicent before a "strong female character". I couldn't care less that she was "usurped". I don't care for the people who say she obviously wouldn't hurt her siblings, cause we never got one scene of her giving Alicent or her siblings a reason to believe she wouldn't harm them. She not on e said anything to anyone else that she wouldn't want to harm her siblings before the dance, so if I was Alicent and told that she would kill my children by all these people I trust, than why should I not trust them when the person they are telling me will do it isn't saying anything to change my mind.

Needless to say I will always sympathize with these Alicents

The Way The Show Runners And TB Stans (specifically Rhaenyra Stans) Want Me To Sympathize With Rhaenyra
The Way The Show Runners And TB Stans (specifically Rhaenyra Stans) Want Me To Sympathize With Rhaenyra

Before I EVER sympathize with either of these Rhaenyra's

The Way The Show Runners And TB Stans (specifically Rhaenyra Stans) Want Me To Sympathize With Rhaenyra
The Way The Show Runners And TB Stans (specifically Rhaenyra Stans) Want Me To Sympathize With Rhaenyra

Aemond and little Aenyra (he is 42 and she is 3)

I think Aemond loves his children very much. If he had a loving family, he would be able to replenish the love he lost in childhood already in adulthood. As it usually happens "i will be another parent, better than mine".

Helaena but she's allowed to exist beyond autistic stereotypes. Helaena raised as a Targaryen princess and expected to follow certain social cues and unspoken rules that she has difficulty picking up on, so she prefers to spend her time with her children and her dragon, where she can be herself and not have to put on a mask and play a part. Helaena seen frequently on Dreamfyre, Queen Rhaena's mount before it was hers, the smallfolk recognizing the pale blue scales of the creature above and associating her with nostalgia for the prosperous reign of the Old King. Helaena who frequently does needlework as a stim to keep her hands busy and herself centered and embraces the creativity and craftsmanship of her art as an outlet for her many busy thoughts. Helaena who loves talking about her bugs, her dragon, and her children to all who will listen.

Then Helaena dissociated in her grief, unable to leave her room, unable to connect with her children and fly her dragon, isolated in her thoughts and dreams and increasingly disconnected from the world, others, and reality.

Until she is told of her toddler's death, torn apart by a mob in pursuit of the bounty her sister placed on his head, and suddenly she is back in the here and now. And Jaehaera is gone. Aegon is gone. Aemond is gone. Her grandfather is gone. Her mother is gone, in another cell, and they will never leave captivity. And so she takes one last look at the world outside her window.

hotd purposefully making all the greens look incompetent af to highlight how great their TB protagonists are in return backfires so hard it's actually funny.

in the book the greens were a powerhouse, they had the best warrior, the bigger army, great political minds on their side, the bigger dragons and strong competent riders to ride them. they were a threat. the show making them all stupid makes rhaenyra & the rest of tb look so weak and stupid in return. like you can't even win against those guys? really? also it shows how rhaenyra is a poorly written character - it is necessary to ruin other characters like alicent, aegon, daemon and aemond for her to appear smart & capable.

alicent & motherhood

thinking abt that tiktok someone made about why we never see alicent giving birth, but we see aemma, laena and rhaenyra TWICE and how it's a way to disconnect alicent from motherhood, but also a way to keep the audience from perhaps empathising with her.

THIS alicent...

Alicent & Motherhood

... is the alicent that gave birth to all her children. alicent was like 15/16 giving birth to aegon, and 18/19 giving birth to daeron. ik the hotd timeline/character ages are kinda cooked but like she was a mother of four before turning 20.

when alicent was pregnant with her fourth child, rhaenyra was pregnant with her first. not to mention that rhaenyra chose the father of her children, and while of course there was pressure on her to get pregnant, alicent had absolutely no choice in it. not when, or with who. would it have continued? would she have had more children if viserys didn't get so sick?

Alicent & Motherhood

anyway. i just think it's weird that people have literally NO empathy for her, especially when it comes to her and her children.

I honestly don’t get people who call book!Alicent an “evil stepmother” or a power hungry woman who ‘seduced’ V*serys and then tormented Rha*nyra for years.

There is literally nothing in F&B stating or even eluding to Alicent even wanting to be Queen or seducing Vis or even having an affair with him while Aemma was still alive (which is heralded as a mere rumor).

For all we know, book!Alicent may have been in the same situation as her show counterpart: a young girl forced to be married to the king despite not having any desire to do so. However, unlike her show counterpart, book!Alicent seemed to understand that it would strengthen her family’s status and at least made the best of her situation and embraced the power she had if she truly was forced to wed the king (again, nothing in the book stating so).

As for the whole “evil stepmother” stuff, all that’s said is that Alicent and Rha*nyra started off with a decent relationship before they grew apart because of their own personal ambitions, and most likely because both wanted to be in Vizzy’s favor due to the fact that both girls desired to be Queen.

Also people love to talk about how Alicent “tormented” her stepdaughter (despite having no evidence) and having beef with a child, meanwhile Rha*nyra openly mocked her siblings at court due to them being a threat to her claim and Da*mon was noticeably cold towards his nephews because they pushed him further down the line of succession.

Book!Alicent was literally just a normal medieval woman who wanted to protect her children and was a little bitchy. That’s it. Honestly, compared to the atrocities committed by characters such as Rha*nyra, Da*mon, Mys*ria, and others, she’s really not that bad.

I think about how HOTD screw over ALL of their female characters. Erased their storyline. Removed their main motivations. Didn't bother to bring other amazing characters from the books to the screen.

All of that for Rhaenyra sake and put her on top, but in the end, turned her into soggy cereal.

Maelor Targaryen and the Last Dragon

Did Maelors egg hatch into the last dragon?

I want to start off with who I think laid Maelors egg

I think it came from either Morghul and Shrykos mating or just Shrykos laying an egg

We know that Shrykos is female and the only way to know that a dragon is female is if they lay eggs meaning at some point she laid eggs

According to the artist who illustrated the "Storming of the Dragon Pit" from Rise of the Dragon, Shrykos is "copperish" while many think of copper as a orange-ish color it CAN be green and if you consider that the name Shrykos likely comes the creatures "Shrykes" who are said to be beings with green-scaled skin that is hint to Shrykos possibly being green

Maelor Targaryen And The Last Dragon
Maelor Targaryen And The Last Dragon

So this could mean that Morghul and Shrykos or just Shrykos laid an egg and that egg was given to their bonded's little brother Maelor, it should also be noted that Maelors egg is not described as a cradle but rather that he was just given an egg

Maelors dragon egg was also described, very rarely are eggs described in this series especially eggs that "don't matter" later, so rare in fact I can't currently think of one

The description for the egg is also similar with the description of the last dragon

"Maelor's egg was pale green with swirls of silver."

"The last dragon was a green female, who lived in Kings Landing. She was small and stunted, with withered wings."

They are both green meaning that her egg likely wouldve been green and his egg likely wouldve hatched into a green dragon

According to this interaction between a fan and Elio in 2014, we might learn more about Maelor in the Dunk and Egg series if it's ever completed, this is also the series that mentions the last dragon the most so that is possibly why we could find out more about him

Maelor Targaryen And The Last Dragon

This is just my theory on which egg the last dragon could've hatched from !! It's pretty short as we know so little about both characters but I thought it was pretty interesting so I hope you enjoyed <3

I know it’s been said but, damn, I really do hate the way the show turned what was supposed to be a story about how the Targaryens ate themselves because of ego, about two spoiled yet neglected brats wanting to be The One despite already being the most powerful people in the world who horde wealth and ride dragons while average people struggle to find enough to eat and turned it into “Meanie Hightowers attacked the innocent, perfect dragons-and-incest family” just reinforcing the very same arrogance, short-sightedness, and exceptionalism of not just the Targaryens but this whole system that GRRM was trying to criticize.
