The stinging nettle (Urtica dioica): A bee sting in plant form. Both give you acidic stings, but whilst a bee will die after a single sting, the nettle holds no such melodrama. Importantly, the underside of the nettle has no stinging needles - using this, a nettle leaf can be folded and eaten. Quite delicious, but like oysters, it is best to only chew them just enough to experience the flavour. Unlike oysters, it is an established tea.
The dock leaf (Rumex obtusifolius): The apologetic, unassuming, elder sibling of our funny little trio. Never too far behind the stinging nettle, growing in the same habitat, it is a welcome gift for the unlucky or unwary. Simply crushing it's flat, broad leaf, arranged in small clumps, low to the ground, and rubbing the remains on the sting will greatly ease the pain. Unfortunately, as some kind of earthy punishment for irresponsible agricultural practices, or maybe it's simply prone to seasickness, it did not accompany the stinging nettle on its torment to Australia.
(Important note: it is NOT a certified doctor, and, in fact, does not hold any kind of medical certificate or degree).
The dead nettle (Lamium purpureum): Surprisingly, edible, and harmless enough. It's pretty pink-ish-purple flowers will ruin its disguise in certain seasons, along with its ever-present diminutive size. The dead nettle relies on the terrifying reputation of the stinging nettle to warn away anyone and anything. Yet, it you touch one, you will find no sting. Like if the spirit of the plant it pretends to be manifests in that sting, it finds itself lacking something it will never achieve. However, for the dead nettle, once that sting is proven absent, it's likely already dead - possibly uprooted for its uncanny skill of growing in driveways.

To me, he did exactly the opposite of fighting for her at the end.
Here is what Daemon knew:
He could stand a chance to fight Aemond and survive if he did it with Nettles, leaving him the chance (at the very least) to then fight the rest of the greens.
Rhaenyra then sent for Nettles head, and he would not stand for that so he let her escape. That’s when he decided to fight Aemond, though he stood no chance to survive (let’s not kid ourselves by saying that Daemon was just that powerful. He only killed Aemond by killing himself).
At this point the news of Ulf and Hugh being turncloaks have reached him, and for all he knew Silverwing and Vermithor were approaching Kings Landing, with Tessarion. Making a much larger threat than Vhagar, a threat that would be responded with Seasmoke, Syrax and Tyraxes at most, and he would not think Tyraxes would join and maybe even doubt Syrax.
Dreamfyre also resided in the pit at that point, and while Helaena was no fighter, and for all purposes mad at this point, that made the greens dragon advantage enermous.

We obviously know that Hugh and Ulf would turn again, and then + Addam and Daeron would die with Silverwing being the only survivor.
But he didn’t. He only knew that they had turned and were fighting with the greens, and he still decided to send Nettles away knowing he stood no chance of living.
To me, he did not die for Rhaenyra. He died because he gave Nettles the chance to flee. While knowing that Rhaenyra was pretty much mad, and was going to lose.
All in all, their decision to remove Nettles is entirely idiotic in my opinion.
You deserved so much better than that.
Honestly, I'm DEVASTATED they've completely cut Nettles and are doing this whole Rhaena x Sheepstealer thing.
Not just because that means we will most likely never see Morning but because Nettles was such an important part of the story. Not just because of the battles she fought but because of her crucial role in Daemon and Aemonds battle and deaths.
Believe what you want, whether she was Daemon's lover or bastard daughter, it was Rhaenyra growing so paranoid after the two dragonseeds changed sides and ordering the ASSASSINATION of that young woman that pushed Daemon to go on that su*cide mission after Aemond.
With Nettles needing to flee and Daemon realising Rhaenyra doesn't trust him anymore and is willing to go after him/his lover/his daughter, he was willing to sacrifice himself and his dragon while bringing down Aemond & Vhagar.
Had it not been for that, the whole story would have been totally different. Perhaps the war would have raged on for far longer as well.
At this point it feels like they won't even do Rhaenyra's paranoia arch and her demise. That they won't have her order Addams arrest, imprison Corlys, order the assassination of Nettles, etc.
It feels like they've turned her into an empowered, always rational, never doing any wrong feminist-icon while her book version was SO much different.
That's what I liked so much about the books and the entire GoT/HotD universe; that there are no good people, only bad people and worse ones.
"Choose your favourite war criminal" type of stuff. That's totally missing from this show, in my opinion. It's all too black and white. It's almost... boring at this point.
At this point, I hold little hope for the rest of this show to get much better. Even George has (indirectly) spoken out against this change.

This is absolute bullshit, these racist fucks have written out the only black character in the book replacing her with a canonically white character!
Is it now woke to decide two women are interchangeable simply because they have the same skin colour?!
Nettles matters! I don’t care about the whole love triangle bs, she matters as a little black girl who triumphs as the sole female dragonseed. She’s important because she’s living proof you don’t need Valyrian blood to claim a dragon. She’s the underdog, the one no one thought would survive but does despite everything.
Rhaena’s victory as the last dragon rider until Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons also matters! Morning is just as her name insinuates, she’s the light who brings hope in the aftermath of one of the darkest times in Targaryen and Westerosi history. You are robbing Rhaena of her triumph, of her success at finally hatching a dragon. She was underestimated, sent to the Vale because she couldn’t help in the war effort. But it’s SHE who brings the Vale army to Kingslanding with the last dragon!
Nettles is a peasant girl whose story is about overcoming hardships and poverty, Rhaena’s is about a royal princess who proves she has blood of the dragon.
These stories are not interchangeable just because both women are black!

Nyra's bloodline continued, the nasty usurpers all died out like they deserved! Our Queen's legacy lived on, WE are the true winners!
When by the end of the dance all the blacks have left is one very traumatized boy king that lost everyone he loved in the span of two years and is terrified of his own house's symbol.
Don't get me wrong, I love Aegon III, he and Vizzy II are actually my favourite targ kings (which is quite ironic knowing how much I dislike their parents)
but seeing how all major targ team black members were massacred by the end of the war (Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, Daemon, the strong Boys, Nettles who just vanishes, and all their dragons dead) you have to be kinda delusional to look at all that devastation and go:
The whole point of this conflict is to showcase how destructive and useless these type of wars are, but apparently all the blacks care about is the fact that the kid who sat the iron throne at the end of it was Nyra's son.
Thinking about ships for Daeron when he does show up (please god let Daeron be real). These are my top two options right now, Baela Targaryen and Nettles
For Baela, they have the same appeal that Aemond x Rhaena has for me. Star crossed loves on the different sides of the battle field. You also have Baela as the heir and ruler of Driftmark and Daeron being her malewife supporter who defends her right to her home over anyone else.
For Nettles, they kind of have the same star cross lovers thing but more like the Prince falls for the enemy general kind thing. Also Daeron being super bashful and shy around Nettles because she’s very outgoing and a little crass. Also Daeron asking Nettles which targaryen she’s related to and her saying she’s not related to any targaryen and he’s just like, “you approached a dragon, without being part targaryen, and got it to bond to you? You’re so fucking cool”. Also I love the idea of Alicent wanting Daeron to marry for love and her and him having secret weddings with their chosen person (Criston for Alicent cause I’m a filthy Alicole shipper). Also k like Nettels being with someone her own age and not a creepy old man.
Hope we get some nice ship material for Daeron! Hope we get Daeron
