James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom in Conan the Barbarian | 1982
After hearing about James Earl Jones' passing, I thought I'd pay tribute to him by talking about what I think is his greatest scene.
The way James delivers this line absolutely destroys me. When Luke is trying to convince Vader to turn against the Emperor, he doesn't respond with the malice and arrogance of a Sith Lord but with the sadness and regret of a father who's forever lost any hope of salvation and desperately wants his son to give up trying to give him it because he thinks he can never reach it even though he knows he wants it.
It's a heart-shattering performance given by a legendary actor, and it's one of many reasons he will be dearly missed.

đ¤đ¤đ¤ R.I.P. the legendary James Earl Jones (January 17, 1931 â September 9, 2024). Thanks for all the memories. đ¤đ¤đ¤
Made this for twofold reasons.
- A tribute to James Earl Jones.
- To try and make a point that Lion King 2019's true failing wasn't its photorealistic lions, and that with the power of good acting and a strong score, even CGI lions edited together like a made-for-TV movie can knock it out of the park.
Thank you for being a part of my childhood as King Mufasa, Darth Vader, and so much more.
May the Force be with You, and may you shine down on us alongside the Great Kings of the Past.
RIP to a true legendâ¤ď¸
Thank you for everything, James. Rest in power, King.

Are you proud of that joke?
How immature does one lowlife have to be to make a joke like this the same day a beloved man both to the people from his life and the people who grew up with his work dies?
How do you go on with claiming to be of indigenous decent when you show no respect or value to the land, people and spirits?
You are disgusting thinking that this is a âdark humorâ joke at the expense of another life. Granted youâve already âjokedâ about death before, you claim the US jokes about shootings and we donât, no one does.
What person aside from a sociopath laughs at the pain and suffering of others and things. Show some basic fucking dignity, respect and selflessness for crying out loud.
You canât backtrack from this, deleting it only paints you worse⌠and weâve already seen it.
You are in your 30s and galavanting about like a 13 year old boy.
You are a grown woman, so start acting like one
My condolences and prayers go out to the friends and family of Mr jones.
I hope youâre proud of yourself Lilian Orchard

1931-2024
James Earl Jones passed this morning at 93 years old. :(
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of beloved actor James Earl Jones. Weâll continue to celebrate him and his legacy on this blog alongside all our other beloved vintage stars.
Here is an article sharing the news of his passing that goes into detail about his legacy on screen and stage, itâs a sad but lovely read.

R.I.P. James Earl Jones (17.01.1931 - 09.09.2024) "When I read that part in the script where it said, "Luke, I am your father", I thought, "He's lying. I have to see how they carry this lie out."."
In light of James Earl Jones recent passing I thought it would be nice to celebrate his life and career by highlighting some of his major TV works.
Unfortunately most of these shows have not made the leap to online streaming and itâs possible they may have never even been released in any form of physical media. I hope one day we may see these shows available for viewing again but for now Iâll share what I could find of them.
âThe main character, Gabriel Bird, was played by James Earl Jones. He was a former Chicago police officer who, over twenty years prior, had been wrongfully sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a fellow police officer. In fact, he shot the officer to protect a defenseless mother and child whom the officer was about to murder in cold blood during a 1969 police raid. Unbeknownst to Bird, the raid had been merely a pretext for the police to attack the members of a militant black nationalist organization.
This incident in the character's background was inspired by the 1969 death of Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton, who was shot and killed during a raid upon his residence conducted by Chicago police and other law enforcement personnel. On the show, the street on which the raid involving Bird had occurred was identified as "Hampton Street".
After serving about twenty years in prison, a human rights lawyer decides to work for his release as his testimony is needed in another case. At first, Bird opposes any attempts to release him, as he became accustomed to life in prison, but after his release takes place against his will, he begins to get used to life as a free person and uses his time away from prison to help other people who are wronged by society or the authorities.
When Bird is released, he starts working as a private detective, hired by the lawyer who had helped free him.â (Source)
James Earl Jones won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in this show.
While this show is unfortunately unavailable on streaming services I was able to find someone who had uploaded a recording of the first episode on YouTube (unfortunately I could not find the rest of the series at this time). There do not seem to be any DVD or physical media copies of this show.
âLos Angeles Police Captain Woody Paris (Jones) is the supervisor of a team of rookie detectives, led by Sergeant Stacy Erickson (Cecilia Hart) and including officers Charlie Bogart (Jake Mitchell), Ernesto Villas (Frank Ramirez), and Willie Miller (Michael Warren). Hank Garrett portrayed Deputy Chief Jerome Bench, Paris' superior, and, in an unusual turn for police dramas of that era, Paris' home and off-duty life was given considerable attention, with Lee Chamberlin portraying his wife Barbara. Paris additionally moonlighted as a professor of criminology at a local university.â (Source)
This show is also unavailable online and I could only find DVD listings on a few obscure sites so itâs unclear if any physical media of this show truly exists. However I did find a short clip of its theme (unfortunately itâs just a short clip of James Earl Jones in the intro sequence followed by the rest of the music over a blurry image of him).
"Gabriel Bird is a former Chicago police officer, who, over twenty years prior, had been wrongfully sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a fellow officer. He was exonerated and subsequently became a Chicago private detective (as seen on Gabriel's Fire). Bird then moves to Los Angeles, where he teams up with another private eye, Mitch O'Hannon. Bird also marries his love interest, Josephine, She had been the proprietress of a cafÊ where Bird had begun frequenting shortly after his release, at first for her good, homestyle cooking, but soon, primarily for her companionship." Once again this show has not made the leap to streaming and there have seemingly been no DVD or physical media releases of it. However I did find a clip of a short promotional spotlight for the show.
"Heat Wave is a 1990 American thriller-drama television film about the 1965 Los Angeles Watts Riots" (Source)
Heat Wave was a made for TV movie and also starred: Blair Underwood and Cicely Tyson.
James Earl Jones won the Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Movie or Miniseries for his role in this movie.
This movie is available for streaming on Amazon, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. And it looks like there are some DVD copies for purchase on Amazon, Ebay, and other sites.
Here is a promotional trailer for the movie.
CW: Police Brutality and Racism
I hope this has bean able to shine a light on a lesser acknowledged section of James Earl Jones extensive acting career and legacy. And I hope one day those shows of his that have been seemingly lost to time may yet see the light of day once again.

crying just a little too hard about this news. RIP to Mr. James Earl Jones⌠an indisputable legend of cinema and theatre. Thank you for playing such a significant role in my childhoodâ your gifts, talents, charisma, and generosity are known world wide and will never be forgotten. May the road rise up to meet you, and the wind be always at your back.
RIP James Earl Jones, whose long list of accomplishments on stage and screen includes being Sesame Street's first celebrity guest star.
An incomplete filmographyânot including stage performancesâof the incomparable James Earl Jones, an E.G.O.T. winner and the voice of a lifetime. đď¸
Today, Jesus is holding:
James Earl Jones
U can watch Star Wars so many times and it doesnât prepare u for how dumb Star Wars is. For one thing I think we gloss over how kenobi (who has definitely been at the club. Please.) describes the mos eisley cantina as the worst most villainous place ever and then u get inside and itâs a pack of muppets vaping
I believe James Earl Jones was the last surviving cast member from DR. STRANGELOVE (his first movie). What a career. RIP.

Rest in Peace to the Legend himself, James Earl Jones.
why he ate that
why is "mummies are so rare bc the british ate them" always presented as like a morbid fun fact and not an example of heinous racism and dehumanization of people of colour to the point of cannibalism. a little bit odd if im honest.
