You know what I’ve just realised again after having watched the cuddle clip for the 5267391856th time:

One of the many reasons why I fell in love with skam so much when I first saw it is that it shows people in their purest form. They don’t cover up any “flaws” or “insecurities” one might see in their skin. They embrace them. They leave the pimples, the acne, the moles, the birthmarks, the hair on their skins, all of it. It’s ok if you want to wear make-up because you just feel like it for you and not for anyone else and it’s also ok if the concept of wearing make-up isn’t of any interest to you. These little bit significant things make the scenes and characters so much more authentic and realistic and you forget for a second that you’re watching a fictional story. 

When the characters wake up in the morning they actually look like they’ve just woken up. Bags under their eyes, messy hair without any product in it, no make-up, eyes can barely open, crinkles on their faces from the pillow and their faces just look like they’ve been squashed by a truck bc that’s reality that’s how it’s supposed to be. No one in the history of humanity has ever woken up like they just had magical little helpers during the night working on it. 

I’m saying “flaws” and “insecurities” bc in most of the stuff I saw when I was a teenager or still even in so many films and tv shows now they are viewed as flaws bc they’re being covered up by this ton of make-up, so you can’t see any spots, any marks and anything that doesn’t look “smooth” and “perfect”. And that’s just such a horrible portrayal of humans to put out there in the world?? Film and tv have such a huge impact on societal standards and values and how people view themselves that it’s almost criminal to force such a wrong depiction of what you’re supposed to look like onto someone, especially when you have a younger/teenage audience.

And also wtf even is perfect in that sense, there is no such thing as perfection when it comes to something that is so unique in every single way. You can’t paint a picture of the ultimate perfection bc it doesn’t exist. There are infinite individual perfections for every single person bc we all view things in a different way. 

We are the same species but we’re all different. Everyone has different skin and it’s so important to embrace that. How boring would it be if we all actually looked the same and had no individual traits that adorned our skins?

The new Clancy letter added the the website 7/18/18 it reads:

I can’t believe what I just saw. I’m still trying to understand. This whole time I was sure that I was all alone — a single soul in this vast unknown world. But a few days into this trek, I looked down to see a figure headed the same way I was. I’ve tucked myself in the caves and crevices, trying my best to keep hidden, but he was out in the open, making his exhausted journey right down the middle of the Trench. I was curious enough to follow alongside the path with him. He seemed unaffected by the fear of the unknown — the fear that tends to cripple me. To him, the terrain seemed familiar, as if he had been out here before.

While lost in my curiosity, they appeared. I had heard about them back in Dema, but to my knowledge, the stories were merely myth. Ten. twenty, and then what seemed to be a hundred Banditos appeared upon the cliffs, all looking down at him. He only stopped of a moment to look back up at them, and then continued on his way. His energy changed, and I wasn’t sure if he was frightened or encouraged by their ominous presence.

They warned him of what was about to come. It was a blur. First seeing the figure, then the Banditos, only to now have my eyes opened to the oncoming Bishop upon a white horse drawing closer in the distance.

The figure halted, and waited. When the Bishop stopped, I was sure he looked up, directly at me, so I hid deeper back in a cave. The presence of the robed rider seemed to paralyze the man. He stood still as he was approached, powerless as the outstretched hands smeared his neck. I had never seen a Bishop posses power like this. Keons had always seemed gentle and warm — this Bishop, at least out here, seemed like something else.

So I ran, and I’ve been running for as long as my legs and lungs can handle. Maybe this note will be my proof that what I witnessed was not a dream. A million questions race through my brain. Am I not the only one traveling through Trench?

I’ll travel a little farther, and maybe I’ll get a moment of rest tonight. I may have made a mistake, leaving. This spot, between two places, is beginning to feel like an endless and hopeless abyss. At least Dema is a place that I know, and at times like this, I miss a lot about what I know. This will all be much tougher than I imagined. Nothing out here is familiar. I’ve witnessed the pressure of others for the first time today, and I feel more alone than ever. Cover me.

the new letter on the Dema website explains A LOT of things abt the jumpsuit music video:

- tyler WAS the failed perimeter escape of Dema (like I thought!!)

- the hooded figure on the horse was Nico (one of the nine Bishops - “the niners”)

- the place tyler was walking in, in the music video, was Trench (aka: the outskirts of Dema)

- the people on the ledge (also josh) are the “Banditos” (the ppl that already escaped Dema and are helping other ppl escape)

- Clancy is a characer who escaped Dema and is now in Trench

- Clancy was hiding in one of the caves during the jumpsuit mv, watching the story unfold - he’s just a bystander to this whole story (maybe he possibly represents us ???)

Who is Nico?

Each of the nine bishops match up with a pattern on the Blurryface cover. (turned the bishop’s image to the left. East is up now.)

Keons - HeavyDirtySoul // Savarver - Tear In My Heart // Listo - Ride // Lisden - Polarize // Reisdro - Doubt // Vetomo - Lane Boy // Andre - Fairly Local  // Nico - (supposedly Stressed Out) // Nills - Goner

The names are random chunks of lyrics. Example: Sacarver is taken from “she’s a carver”. All the bishops do follow this rule, all but Nico. There are no lyrics in Stressed Out that make “NICO”.

So the the first time a spotlight was shed on Nico was the cheetah gif with the phrase “U STILL DONT KNOW HIS REAL NAME DO U?” hidden between the letters N I C O in the place of spaces. We still don’t know Nico’s real name.

My two theories are: 

1. Nico is hiding his true name for some reason. 

2. Nico is replacing an old bishop. (Perhaps he overthrew the previous bishop. Or the old bishop died/stripped of his title and Nico was elected as the new bishop. I don’t know how Dema’s politics work lol)

I am very interested as to why Nico is called out specifically in “Nico And The Niners”. What makes him more significant than the other bishops? The only other bishop that has been name-dropped is Keons. Clancy wrote about Keons in a positive light, and the other eight he considered to be ruthless. (this could be due to Keons brainwashing his personal region or he’s possibly just not as bad of a leader as the other 8.Clancy seems to be too enlightened to believe Keons to be good if he really isn’t) 

Nico may be especially ruthless and a bit of a leader among the bishops. (whether he is a new bishop or has been around a long time will be an interesting detail in the story.) That’s why Tyler addresses them as “Nico and The Niners” instead of just The Niners. Nico is leading them in the chase. 

I am not sure if the cloaked man in the Jumpsuit video is even a bishop. He appears to be a direct representation of Blurryface. From his black fingers and face paint. The veil literally blurring his face, and of course the red cloak. If he is meant to be Nico (Stressed Out), we could take the line from the song “My name’s Blurryface” and perhaps that is Nico’s true identity? 

Probably not, but it’s something to think about. I have gone through all the lyrics of Blurryface and none of the songs explain Nico’s name. So whether Blurryface is just Nico or a combination of all the bishops’ control would be very intriguing. I’m a believer that Tyler doesn’t portray Blurryface, but simply portrays himself “possessed” by Blurryface. So that cloaked figure might be the real Blurryface in the flesh. 

Hopefully we can get more lore and letters to satisfy us till October 5th. I absolutely love the way they are telling this story and I can’t wait to read what everyone else has to say. Please add any thoughts you have! I have so many but the puzzle still isn’t complete! (totally call me out if you have plain and simple answers to any of this. I’m dumb and miss things in plain sight.)

What if Nico is the name of him?:

Okay, to me he’s NOT Blurryface. To me Blurryface is “gone”. (Read the whole thing; I came up with something and it will explain why this is not valid anymore)

In Nico and the Niners, Tyler sings this:

“I’m flying from a fire, from Nico and the Niners.”

So, we can assume that Nico is bad. But now, this guy in red is literally trying to keep Tyler inside DEMA, he doesn’t want him to escape, so, he’s also .. bad.

The Niners, maybe they’re the Bishops

“When Bishops come together they will know that, Dema don’t control us.”

They’re 9 Bishops in the pic. The rest is more like an audience?. It looks like a kind of ritual or something.

So in conclusion:

Nico is the guy in red.

The Niners are the Bishops.

Nico and the Niners are the ones who control DEMA.

They’re trying to stop Tyler’s escape.

Maybe DEMA is like a place in your head, just think about it:

“And now I just sit in silence”

“Sometimes quiet is violent”

“There’s no hiding for me

"I’m forced to deal with what I feel. There is no distraction to mask what is real”

Maybe all of this is happening in Tyler’s head?

Like:

He’s in silence and when he’s in silence he starts to think and all of that thinking led him in a place in his mind that now he can’t escape:

DEMA.

Again, all of this is just my point of view and my theory

Okay, I just thought of something… What kind of name is Blurryface? Like, seriously, who is named Blurryface.. I know we can just say that this represents Tyler’s insecurities so it doesn’t have to have a proper name..

but: “U still don’t know his real name do u”.

WHAT IF ALL THIS TIME THIS THING, THIS BLURRY FACE, DID HAVE A NAME AND IT WAS NICO!!

And then she said:

Nine insecurities?

It makes sense:

There are 9 circles in Blurryface, nine insecurities.. (?

Maybe that’s why the Bishops might be good after all.. (as someone pointed out)

Scorpius in the beginning, has grown up in isolation in the Malfoy Manor and hasn’t really spoken to anyone in his peer group - he’s just been alone with his books. Reading about Harry Potter and Albus and all these different people… and suddenly Albus comes into the carriage and it’s the first time he’s ever really socialised with someone from his peer group without a family member/supervisor there, and so he has a bit of a panic. He just wants to be his friend immediately. Rose Granger-Weasley doesn’t take too kindly to him, thinks he’s a bit odd (because he is). But Albus quite likes him, and so the friendship begins from there. (x)
