Every single time I get a TERF in my inbox my alliance to the trans community becomes stronger
My home will be a home with no loud anger, no explosive rage, no slamming doors or breaking glass, no name calling, shaming or blackmail. My home will be gentle, it will be warm. It will keep my loved ones safe. No fear, no hurt and no worries. I may come from a broken and twisted place but I will build something whole and safe. I’ll sing in the shower again, cook with a smile and dance in all the rooms. I will heal.
I like the word gay. But I like “lesbian” better.
I like it because of Sappho of Lesbos, a lesbian and a Lesbian whose memory reminds us that women who loved women existed long before any time on earth that any living person can remember.
I like it because of Sappho’s poetry, the sweet prose she wrote for the goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Aphrodite has her counterpart in the Roman goddess Venus, whose symbol has evolved to represent the woman, the female, the feminine.
I like it because of its culture and history. Butch, fem, stud, dyke. Bars where women drink and dance and laugh and kiss other women. Boston marriages. Women’s colleges. They wanted Ellen to get a puppy but she wanted to kiss a lady.
It hasn’t all been pretty. This word has been taken from us, made into a fetish, a porn category, fuel for men’s libidos. Hysterical. Asocial. Deviants. Lesbians.
But that makes me love it all the more—to spite them, to spite the men who salivate over us, to spite the churches that rally against us, to spite it all. But I wear this badge for more than just spite. I wear it for love. Love for women, love for our history, love for love for… lesbian.
It’s not a dirty word. It’s beautiful, and I am proud to call myself a lesbian.

so @beautysnake made a very good post about promoting lgbt+ people that are selling pride gear this year and the notes are a wealth of resources and ive taken it upon myself to provide a detailed, well documented masterpost of things made by and for the lgbt+ community.
i had three criteria while making this and i ask that you follow these outlines as well if you add to this post:
the artist is NOT sketchy/creepy (fetishization, “fujoshi”, and things similar to these things being available on the artists story automatically disqualifies them)
if multiple pride flags are being sold, there MUST be a lesbian flag included. not sapphic, not wlw, but LESBIAN. preferably community, but the original works too
this is the big one, and if you contribute to this list i BEG you to pay attention. lgbt+ people of color deserve to not only be represented and celebrated in our community, but to have their content equally promoted. merch that is made by poc/includes the philadelphia flag will be bolded.
now let’s begin! if ive missed anything, made a mistake, a link doesnt work, or someone nasty passed through the filter, shoot me a message and ill fix it!

Lesbians who can't have penetrative sex because of physical reasons are valid.
Lesbians who can't have penetrative sex because of psychological reasons are valid.
Lesbians who don't want to have penetrative sex are valid.

Lesbians who don't enjoy penetrative sex are valid.
Lesbians who are scared of penetrative sex are valid.
Lesbians who find penetrative sex uncomfortable are valid.
Heteronormative culture tells us that sex is defined by penetration. But it's not. There is no hierarchy of sex acts. You don't have to do anything you aren't ready for or don't want to ever do. You can still be fully sexually active if you can't or don't have penetrative sex. Your sex partners must respect that or they're garbage.

I think a lot of people are anti vax not only due to mistrust in science, but because they’re so used to the benefits of vaccines that they forget what life would be like without them. They’re not seeing anyone die of tetanus. Or children paralysed by polio. They’ve never been concerned with measles. Herd immunity (because thank God, most people do get vaccinated) has been protecting them for so long that they don’t know how horrible these diseases are. They fully expect that their children will make it past childhood.
However, not everyone gets that privilege. In some countries, people will go to hell and back to get their children vaccinated. They have 5+ kids expecting that maybe one or two will live to see their adult years.
Vaccines do not make you sick. It is not within pharmaceutical companies’ best interest to make people sick with their vaccines. It’s not only bad for people, but also bad for business. Developing a vaccine is a decade’s long investment, and if a vaccine is dangerous it’s pulled from the market before it can generate sufficient profit. Besides, you don’t think pharma companies WANT to be known for good vaccines? Who wouldn’t want to be known as the business that eradicated a horrible illness?
Whether you like it or not, the diseases that vaccines prevent are more dangerous than you imagine. We wouldn’t vaccinate if it was unnecessary! Vaccinating is so important- speak to ANY doctor about it. The side effects of vaccines are extremely rare (so rare in fact, that the WHO doesn’t have enough figures on this matter to run a statistical analysis) and they are much better than the diseases they prevent. Vaccinating is one of the best things you can do for both your own and public health.
