Reader is AFAB
One simple mission, one simple delivery mission and it couldn’t even go smoothly. Obi-Wan had sent you and Commander Cody to delivery some emergency equipment and the route was meant to be secure but thanks to you luck you were ambushed by enemy ships and in your small
Freighter was not equipped to deal with them.
You had made what you thought was a smart decision to try to evade them by hiding on one of the moons nearby, failing to realize that it was an ice moon and you flew right into a storm. Due to stress and panic, which a padawan of Obi-Wan should not have, you crash landed into an ice bank and due to the violent storm outside, you two were not able to go outside to drive to dig yourself out.
"The storm is jamming our signal, it won't get through until it clears," Cody explained as he attempted one last time.
"I can't believe that we can travel to planets and galaxies but our equipment can't send a kriffin signal in bad weather," you huffed running your hands through your hair.
The wind battered your cruiser, the ice pellets clanked against the tough metal and glass. This ship had been through worse so you weren't too concerned minus the whole ship being covered in snow.
“Well at least we aren’t being followed,” Cody grinned.
“Har har,” you sighed sitting in the pilot’s chair, “One simple delivery mission and I can’t even do that correctly,” you were busy analyzing the current stats of the ship, you realized in order to conserve the main power, you would have to switch to emergency mode which would only insure that the ship would be able to start the moment you could.
“You are acting like you are the only one to ever have an issue on a mission,” Cody teased.
You stared at him, arms crossed pouting, “Has any of them messed up on a simple delivery run?” you turned back and looked at the ship status
“I hope you like the cold, Commander, to ensure the ship is even able to take off once this is over we are going to have to turn off the heaters and most of the electrical.”
“I will go see what we have, General, I think I saw some things in the back.”
You started to turn off the unnecessary systems, as you braced yourself for the cold.
Cody had returned with one of the warm emergency jackets that was in storage and handed it to you as he found his own. It smelt musty and was stiff from not being used in a while but you weren’t one to complain.
You put it on, your body drowning in it. Cody smirked, “I feel like I could push you over and you wouldn’t be able to get up.”
You scowled, “Don’t you dare.”
Of course the jacket Cody found, fit him well, it gave him the necessary movement needed and showed off his fit frame.
“Well settle down, General, it is going to be a while.”
A few hours had passed and you both mostly sat in silence, mostly because Cody had decided to take a small nap. You pulled your legs close to you as the cold had started to creep through. It didn’t help that you also did not like the cold to begin with. This was going to be a long night.
Cody woke up to your shuddered breath, “Cold already, princess?” he teased, sitting up, rolling his shoulder.
You had your legs pressed up against your chest and your arms around, “What gave it away?” you shivered, smiling.
Cody got up and pulled out to blanket rolls, shoving one into each other, “I would prefer not to bring you back with a cold, I have an idea, an old survivors trick,”
You looked at him, as he firstly removed his helmet, he looked a little tired than usual but he still had that strong handsome face that most of the clones carried.
You got up and walked over to Cody, as you removed your belt with your lightsaber, placing it on top of the jacket near the rolls.
Cody had removed his armour and had stripped down only to his blacks.
"Erm, it is better if you have as little as possible," he stated awkwardly, his hand running the back of his head.
"Cody, is this how you get all your women into your bed. Showing off your 'survival techniques'?
Cody immediately flustered, "N-no that's not it ma'am uhh Sir…I mean,"
You burst out laughing, placing a reassuring hand on his arm.
Cody had to pause for a moment, were you always this beautiful when you laughed? The way you partially covered your face when he couldn't stop laughing. Also why did your touch feel so warm despite that you were literally a human icicle.
"I am bugging you," you breathed, wiping away a stray tear. You shimmied off your outer robe, standing in only your tunic and leggings. Your teeth were chattering at this point as you wrapped your arms around you self
"How are you not cold?"
"Advanced genetic modification," Cody bragged.
You rolled your eyes "And let me guess you don't sweat either, you absorb the sunlight for nutrients."
He poked your side, "I am not a robot or a plant,” He took note of your blue lips and your chattering teeth, though you had remained composed you weren’t fooling anyone. He lifted the side of the makeshift bed, the rolls were unzipped, one stuffed into the other.
“Get in, you are almost making me feel sorry for you,” he joked as you knelt down and shimmied into the roll, pressing yourself to the folded bit as close as possible. You heard Cody shuffle in behind you. You gasped slightly when you felt his warm frame against you.
“How are you so warm?” you asked, turning your head, “I can’t even keep my feet warm on warmer planets, feel.”
You pressed your socked feet against his legs, you giggled when you felt him move away, “Maker, how have your feet not fallen off, at this point?” he asked as he started to run his hand over your shoulders and arms.
Cody’s touch was gentle and attentive, something that didn’t surprise you given how meticulous and cautious he always was. Your arms felt less numb, as he carefully ran his hands over your legs, you hissed when you felt the warmth coming back. You imagined your skin was rubbed raw from the cold and the heat returning was sending pins and needles down your legs and to your feet.
“Is this helping?” he asked, you felt a small burst of warmth in your chest when you noticed the tone of concern in his voice.
“Yeah,” you responded snuggling more into the blankets, “This was a smart idea. Good work Commander,” you teased, “What about you?”
“I am fine, as I said I was warm before, but now it is a little better,” he had removed his hands from you and placed them awkwardly at his side. You bit your lower lip, you kind of wished he had kept going, you missed his warm touch . You tried to lay perfectly still, resisting the urge to move closer to him.
You two laid there in awkward silence, the only noise was the low pitch hum of the generator keeping the necessary equipment warm and the violent storm outside. Cody hadn’t been this close to someone in a while, all of his hookups were quick and they never stayed. He took in the warmth of your smaller frame as your shoulders rose and fell with each shallow breath you took.
You tried to focus your mind elsewhere, this was the closest you had ever been with anybody. You knew the Jedi code in regards to attachments and relationships, and you and Commander Cody had worked alongside together for months. The cold must be affecting your cognitive thinking, you closed your eyes and took a deep breath trying to feel the energy around you. You tried to find calmness within the force. The storm had not let up, and the energy was turbulent. There was nothing around for miles, your sense finally guided you to a calmness in the force...Cody.
The energy you felt around him was different from he was usually with you and Master Kenobi, he was always a calm soldier even in the toughest of battles and he never faltered even when having to deliver awful news of numerous casualties and failed missions. This energy you felt was raw and vulnerable. Trying to focus more you also felt something new, it was warm, like you were floating in a warm bath. You felt your body flush with the feeling, you couldn’t pinpoint what it was exactly but you wanted to explore him more
You broke your thought instead as you felt a little guilty for looking into Cody like that. Taking in a deep breath to calm your nerves, you spoke, “C-Cody,” of course your voice was going to crack, “I am still cold, can you come a little closer?”
“Of course!” Cody internally cringed, he responded too quickly and probably sounded too eager. He shifted closer, his arms were awkwardly by his side, taking the plunge and wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you closer. ‘I am just keeping her warm, this General would kill me if anything happened to her,’
You squeaked when you felt his arms around you, his large hands at your waist as he pulled you closer to him. You were cocooned in his warmth, his frame encircled yours as you felt totally and utterly safe. You tried to not pay attention to his warm breath whispering at the top of your head, just how warm his hands were, just how perfect it all felt. It took all control to not allow your mind to wander where else his hands could warm you up.
'No,' you mentally yelled at yourself, 'He is just doing his duty, keeping me safe, this means nothing to him, it is just another mission for him.'
You jolted when you heard the wind pick up and the banging increased.
"Everything alright?" Cody asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Yes, sorry. I don't deal with storms very well," you admitted embarrassingly
"You would definitely hate Kamino then,"
"Yeah, I've seen enough holovids. I am good"
You groaned when something like a giant ice boulder hit the side of the ship.
Cody couldn't help but laugh.
"It isn't funny, also you tell anyone there will be consequences," you pouted, "Serious consequences."
Cody unconsciously ran his hands to the curve of your hip and torso as he inched a little closer,
"I've seen how Echo was nearly in tears when he was just teasing you about your luck with sabacc, you can be scary when you want to."
You settled back into the rolls, trying to ignore the noise outside. Shutting your eyes trying to focus on your breathing. Cody ran a reassuring hand over your arm. This surprisingly calmed you quickly, as you melted into his touch.
"Don't worry cyar'ika, I am here. I've got you." His nose gently brushed up against the top of your head. If you had been focusing on anything else, you wouldn't have noticed
"Sleep," he whispered, the low tone rumbled his chest, vibrating against you, "I'll be on guard."
"But you need sleep too," you mumbled the excitement of today and of the situation finally catching up with you.
"I'll just stand watch for a few hours," he assured you, squeezing you ever so slightly. You closed your eyes as you bathed in his warmth and drifted off into a somber sleep.
A few hours later, Cody was lightly dozing as he felt you shift, he immediately opened his eyes as you turned over, mumbling something as you rested against his chest, your legs intertwining with his, as you placed your hands on his chest.
Cody remained motionless, he could not tell if you were awake or if you shifted in your sleep. He would be lying if he wasn't enjoying the new position, your legs had finally warmed up as one of his legs was positioned between your warm thighs.
Your leggings and tunic did very little to hide the outline of your body to begin with but now being pressed up against him, he was able to map out every curve.
Reluctantly he shook your shoulder gently, "Hey, General," when you didn't respond he shook you again calling you by your name.
"It's okay Cody," you murmured, nuzzling into his chest, "I promise I can keep this a secret between us two."
Cody listened, you clearly were asleep, he had an awful idea that he knew he wouldn't be able to act on later.
"What secret, little one?" He purred into your hair, near your ear.
"Mmph, secret...you and me...together….please,"you whimpered, your grip on his blacks bunching the fabric a little.
"And what about your Master, cyar'ika?" He kept his hands on your back, resisting all desire to roam all over your body.
"Sshh, secret," you whispered as you quieted down, your breathing deep and slow once again.
Cody took in a deep breath, inhaling your scent of soap and something floral, closing his eyes preserving the memory, he exhaled, keeping you close.
"You're going to get me into a world of trouble," he muttered, as he closed his eyes, also drifting into a light sleep.
***
You brought your face closer to Cody, “This is nice,” you smile at him as he strokes your hair, mapping your face, watching your reaction.
“You know we can’t stay like this forever?” he pulled the blankets over both of you, keeping the heat in.
“But what if we could,it could be our little secret,”you ran your hand through his well kept hair.
Cody smirked, gripping your chin, pulling you into a gentle kiss. You whimpered when his soft lips touched yours. His kiss was warm, filling with passion with every deeper kiss.
“And what would Master Kenobi say to this?”
You placed a finger on his lips, “Sssh, it’ll be our little secret,” you responded as you pulled him into a deeper kiss.
***
You woke up with a start, your heart fluttering and a slight ache that wasn't the stiffness from sleeping on the floor. You took a moment to remember where you were, your mind still hazy sleep.
Your body was entangled in something firm and warm as your cheek was resting on something soft. You stiffened a little when you realized you were practically on top of Cody, legs interwoven with his, your hand bunching his blacks, your head resting in the crook of his neck. This isn't how you fell asleep.
You didn't want to move in fear of waking him up plus this felt nice. You felt the rise and fall of his chest as your hand was over where his heart was, slowly counting the rhythmic thuds. You kept your eyes closed as you took in his scent, the scent of sweat and soap and the slight sharpness of cologne. You pretend to stay asleep, eyes closed as you nuzzled into his neck, your breath fanning over his skin.
Cody woke up the moment he felt you stir, knowing that you were also now awake. He kept his chin on your head and his hands on the small of your back. He was trying to hang on to this moment, despite their current predicament he didn't want this moment to end.
He felt your legs shift, 'Marker, just a little longer little one,' he begged to himself.
You noticed the change in Cody's breathing and you figured he had also unfortunately woken up. You took in one more deep breath before opening your eyes, removing yourself from his neck and propping against his chest to look up at him. You gasped slightly as you were greeted with dark brown eyes with light sprinkles of hazelnut staring back at you. Your mouth suddenly felt dry as you gripped his shirt again to stop yourself from moving forward.
The air around you was electrifying as memories of your dream flashed before you. Cody slowly snaked hand over your back as he ran it gently across your cheek. Closing your eyes to savor the feeling he gently cupped your cheek. Your eyes fixed on his lips as you licked your own.
Cody took in your features, the messy bed hair, your eyes were glossed over from sleep and he took notice of the gentle pink blush that formed at your checks. He hesitated for only a second before drawing you closer.
"Commander Cody. Come in Commander Cody!"
Cody sighed in frustration reaching over to grab his com, his other hand still on your cheek.
"Commander Cody here."
"About time we found you," it was Fives, "We located your freighter, it is going to take a bit to get you out, looked like it was a nasty one last night. Are you and the General keeping warm?"
You felt your face turn scarlet, as your eyes remained on Cody.
"The General is fine, Fives. We will prepare for your arrival" he then tossed the com back onto the floor.
You started to untangle yourself from Cody's limbs, keeping quiet. Before you pulled yourself out of the roll, he grabbed your hand. You paused as you looked at him, your eyes both trying to express your feelings, your desires that you couldn't explore. One silently apologizing to the other for things that couldn't be. It was like the force was playing a mean trick on both of you. Your spirits calm but pained with heartache as well.
Still looking at you he gently kissed your hand, his lips burning into your skin, with one last squeeze,he let you go.
You both got ready in silence as you heard the troopers outside digging you out. Eventually you were able to open the back hatch and were greeted by Obi Wan and Fives.
"You look like a giant marshmallow," he laughed when he saw you in the oversized jacket. You smile warmly at him, feeling yourself calm down as you were finally near him again
"I am sorry about the mission Master…"
"Being ambushed by a separatist raid on your route wasn't part of your mission. I am just glad you are alright," he looked over at Cody who was fully armored up,"She wasn't too difficult was she Commander?"
You felt your heart involuntarily drop into your stomach.
"Not at all, Sir. It is always a pleasure traveling with the General,” you couldn’t see his eyes through the helmet but you could still feel them on you, as you kept your head down, unable to look at him without giving yourself away.
“I would be an icicle without him, Master.” You responded, adjusting your jacket.
“Well, I am glad, I think you should go give yourself a rest young padawan,” Obi felt a shift in you, it was for only a brief moment but he was able to catch it and knew that feeling all too well.
“Thank you, Master,” as you started to walk to the other ship. Cody started to follow behind you.
“Commander Cody, I am sorry I know you must be tired but I have a few things that I need to brief on you,” Obi wan spoke up.
You stopped and turned to look at Cody.
He looked at you and just nodded, “Sleep well, General.”
“I will Commander,” you nodded back at him, resisting the urge to beg him to join you later, but you knew it would never be possible, “Thank you for everything. I’ll meet up with you later.”
“I look forward to it, little one.”
