It's a nice sunny and calm day at urahara shop

Right now the shop is closed for some cleaning and restocking.

At the moment Ururu is sweeping from top to bottom while Tessai is restocking shelves

Then there's Jinta on trash duty.

Now. [Reader] AKA you, is carrying boxes of snacks for Tessai (you snuck a lollipop in your pocket for Ururu)

You go back and forth carrying boxes from one place to another. You take small breaks in-between since they're slightly heavy.

Urahara decides to take a peek at you

"yoo hoo [nickname] chan~!" He says while waving his fan

(lol)

*you wave at him while your picking up the next box*

When you bend over you're butt catches his eye

(Author note: men CAN have level 100 gyats too 😡)

As you're bending over to pick up the box he froze in place. He doesn't really pay attention to your butt that much

But when he did he was flabbergasted (lol)

As you get back up while holding the box you saw his face slightly red

"Are you alright your face is turning red!" *You say in a worried voice*

He plays it off by saying "Oh no I'm ok just a little under the weather!!"

*He covers his face with his fan*

[Reader says]

'Well alrighty I'll make some tea for you when I'm done."

*Urahara nods*

MY FIRST STORY 😁🙏

Fluff ☁️

*Rain continelesy pours outside your window*

While that happens, you decided to take a nap,

aside from the thousands of stuffed animals on your bed you choose the big panther one since it reminded you of Grimmjow.

As you sleep soundly Grimmjow opens your window drenched from the rain

"Oi [reader name] give me some extra cl-"

He suddenly pauses while your holding onto the stuffed animal for dear life squeezing the life out of it.

"Really. [Pronoun] sleeps with stuffed animals, pretty pathetic..". He says quietly

But at the same time he's jealous because why do you need a stuffed animal to hold onto when you have him!

He takes off his soaked clothes and finds extra clothes on the backrest of a chair. He quickly puts them on.

((it's always freezing in your damn house))

He quickly BUT carefully slides the plush out of your reach. You almost woke up but luckily your a deep sleeper.

He then lifts the cover so he can get inside.

Immediately after he gets inside the cover, you clench onto him just like the plushie

He feels pretty smug since he got that damn plush outta the way.

Soon after, he falls asleep with you snuggled up against him.

IM WRITING THIS AT 1:24 AT NIGHT

I REALLY HOPE YALL ENJOYED THIS <33

Atau Rindo Headcanons *゚+˖♡

✧ author's note: it's my first time writing HCs and my first time writing after such a long time, apologies if it's a bit mehh.. (English isn't my mother tongue so apologies for any wrong wording and such,,,) however I hope you still enjoy reading this !! Also I'm in dire need of more Atau content,,,

✧ cw: fluff | (real real tiny) of suggestiveness | just short hcs of Atau himself + with s/o | just Atau being an overall sweetheart 🫶

Atau Rindo Headcanons *゚+˖♡

☆ He would definitely be the type of person to just carry pet food with him each time he goes out just in case he runs into strays or any other lucky animal (I just know he'd have at least a couple stashed inside the pockets of his apron). And he definitely feeds and pamper the animals in the 7th Division's garden.

☆ He loves all sorts of animals; all of them tbh if not nearly all of them. And they love him too, he's an animal magnet. (Have you seen how he's just completely surrounded by all those animals in that one panel 😭 boy's having the time of his life). He especially has a special affinity with birds, they're always just hanging about on his shoulder, hand and hair almost all the time.

☆ Might even get a bit silly with it and just smother himself in birdseed just to get completed engulfed by them lmao

☆ He's an absolute nerd about animals I'm sure. Probably has an entire collection of encyclopaedias of em in his room. Can probably at least name god knows how many species of each animal. (kid me would be friends with him for sure).

☆ His phone wallpaper, lockscreen, phone case, phone charm are animal themed. He's a silly but unhinged fan of animals in a sane way ??

☆ He would definitely !!! buy matching animal themed items for his s/o !!! Matching whale plush? Matching frog mugs? Matching cat coasters? Even the littlest of things,,, if it's cute and comes in matching pairs? Oh.. he's easily sold. Actually scratch that you'd have to restrain him a little from buying so many animal themed stuff, he just can't help himself.

☆ The type to take his s/o out on dates to aquariums, animal themed cafés, petting zoos, etc. Maybe even paint bird feeders together for the birds in the 7th Division's garden !!

☆ He's a polite lil fella. An absolute sweetheart. Would be the type to call his s/o all sorts of words of endearment. Is the type to kiss the back of his s/o's palm. Heck, he'd kiss away at his s/o's every part. Forehead? Nose? Neck? Shoulders? Every part honestly. He just wants his beloved to feel loved and cherished in every part.

☆ He'd get a bit bold to softly bite or nip at your skin out of playfulness or out of affection. He loves your little jolts whenever he bites or nips at you a little too hard ;>

Toshiro Hitsugaya X GN! Reader

{❄️Relationship HC’s❄️}

[In which Toshiro is soft with you…]

—————————————————————————————

Hello! I’m officially off of Vacation from Florida and plan on writing a few things! Here is the first one! Most of them will be about Toshiro, maybe Byakuya or Gin. Maybe even Aizen.

—————————————————————————————

Warnings:

Heavy fluff

Soft Toshiro

Soft kisses

Cuddling and hugs

—————————————————————————————

Toshiro Hitsugaya X GN! Reader

—————————————————————————————

Toshiro is the type to not really show any affection to you, acting as if he was annoyed with you while attempting to cover up an obvious blush that dusted his face.

The longer the crush has lasted, the harder he will fall, and will slowly start to show his affection, only if the crush doesn’t disappear.

And for you, it never disappeared.

Toshiro likes to wake up early, to get a good start on his paperwork for the day, but he struggles sometimes when your warm body is draped around him, protecting him from the chilled room.

When he finally gets you off of him, he is already late but he couldn’t really care. Sitting in his bed kissing you softly over and over agin, he didn’t want to leave. He couldn’t leave.

He’d lazily get up, walking into the bathroom to shower while you rolled out of bed to start breakfast.

By the time he was finished, breakfast was ready and he sat next to you, kissing your lips before beginning to eat before heading to work.

Toshiro loved to give you little gifts. Small ice sculptures, rocks, little trinkets, ect. He loves it.

He doesn’t always show his emotion or speak his mind so the little gifts is one of his best ways to show affection.

He loved to hold your hand. To brush his thumb over your skin. He loves it.

When in public, you show each other respect, showing no signs of your relationship. People know, but you two just never show it out of respect for the other.

Toshiro loves to do paperwork with you. Just sitting in silence and enjoying the other’s presence is enough for him.

He loves to hug you, privately of course but, he really loves your warmth. He could stay up all night, holding your warm body in his arms, gently kissing your head.

He is so in love with you, he can’t wait to ask you to marry him.

It's okay for Grimmjow to poke fun at you and make jokes, it's all in good spirit after all. You both knew he never really meant the things he said, but let him catch someone else degrading you…

You weren’t planning on telling him how upset you were that someone had insulted your intelligence, their harsh words repeating over and over in your head, tormenting you. But he knew you too well, knew there was something wrong when you ignored him, attempting to flee, your eyes red and puffy from crying. He wouldn’t let you get away so easily.

“What’s wrong with you?” He demanded to know roughly. “Why are you acting wimpier than usual?”

You were about to tell him to leave you alone and go away when you caught a flicker of concern in his glacial eyes. Maybe it was all in your head, but in your vulnerable state, you crumbled before him, whining and whimpering to him about the person who hurt your feelings.

Under normal circumstances, he'd tease you about being a crybaby and tell you to grow up, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything of the sort this time. Jaw clenched and fists balled, he barked at you to stop crying, assuring you, "I'll take care of it."

"What?" Your eyes widened. "What are you going to do?"

"Don't worry about it." He was already stalking away, a menacing gleam in his eyes.

After that, the person who had been so cruel to you seemed to avoid you, scurrying away each time you neared with fear in their eyes. You weren’t entirely clueless when it came to Grimmjow’s violent nature, so you didn’t have much trouble imagining what he could have possibly done to them. You didn’t fully condone it, but you weren’t going to complain either. Obviously, whatever he had done worked in your favor.

The next time you saw him, you shared your gratitude. "I'm not sure what you did, but thank you."

“Yeah, whatever. You’re welcome,” he huffed, pink rising to his cheeks. You didn’t expect him to say any more on the matter, but then, “if someone ever says shit to you again, you come get me,” he ordered, avoiding your eyes.

An excited grin spread on your face. Feeling brave, with his cheek turned towards you, you seized the moment, leaning forward and pressing your lips to his warm skin. “Thanks again, hothead.”

He was about to snap at you for touching him without his permission, spinning around to face you with glaring eyes, that is, until he saw your adorable, stupid smile. He turned back away instead, his cheeks growing impossibly hotter.

Shinji Hirako x gn!reader

Synopsis: You are the third seat of Squad 3, who just so happens to have a little crush on a certain blond captain from Squad 5. When you are reminded that his birthday is coming up, you decide—with a little push from your captain—to gift Shinji a handmade treat…

CW: sfw, set during TBTP, confessions, reader is a bit nervous and unsure of themself, Rose being #1 wingman, Shinji being Shinji at the end

WC: 4k

Notes: Happy Birthday, Shinji! 💞 I wanted to try something a little different here, and I got a little carried away with the plot. So, this came out longer than I had initially intended it to be.

Also, as an extra note! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I know birthdays weren’t really celebrated individually in Japan until after WWII—it was more of a New Year’s thing, I believe? I still tried to keep it accurate to the time, but since this is meant for Shinji’s birthday, we’ll have to suspend our disbelief a little here.

❀˖˚ ༘𐙚 Confections & Confessions

The rhythmic melody of your captain’s violin performance reaches your ears as you come up to his office to deliver a report. Just as you were about to open the door, you heard Lieutenant Iba’s yelling, cutting the music off. Chikane Iba was known for her stern demeanor and never hesitated in criticizing your captain, Rojuro ‘Rose’ Otoribashi.

Rose’s daily musical performance followed by Chikane’s verbal assault was a daily occurrence, one you had gotten used to as a member of the Third Division.

With a sigh, you prepare yourself mentally to face your lieutenant’s strict glare as you interrupt them. “I apologize for the interruption, Captain, Lieutenant. I have a report for you, sir.” You direct your attention to Rose.

“Good grief, perfect timing. Get this man to finally work on something.” The elder woman sighs sharply, pinching the bridge of her nose. With a stabbing glare, she looks over at the blond pointedly. “I expect these to be completed when I return, and so help me, if I find you wasting away with these instruments instead, I’ll have more than just a few choice words for you.”

Even though her words aren’t directed at you, you can’t help but feel a foreboding sense of dread settle deep in your gut at her threatening tone. You nod timidly as she moves past you, exiting the office and leaving a thick silence in her wake that you could cut with your zanpakutō. You much prefer the sound of your captain’s music.

“I don’t know how you can keep testing her patience like that.” You comment offhandedly as you walk further into the office, coming up to Rose’s desk as he rises from his slumped position.

“As long as she doesn’t take my precious Candice away…” He sighs with a pained shudder, moving to pick up a stack of files on top of his desk. “And, I’m still captain at the end of the day.” He starts to rifle through the pages quickly, but not quick enough for your eyes to miss the words on the front page:

Joint Training Session: Squads 3 and 5.

You ignore the way your heart skips a beat, clearing your throat to direct his attention back to you, gesturing to the report in your hand in question.

“Ah, just set it there,” he points off to the side of his cluttered desk to another stack of papers. “This takes precedence.”

“Is that so?” You question casually, trying not to show how interested you really are.

“Yes, well, considering we have this training session tomorrow…” he trails off, signing off on something.

“Oh, right. That’s tomorrow, huh.” There’s a feigned disinterest in your tone that causes Rose to glance at you with a knowing smile.

“You’re supposed to be there too, you know.”

“Of course.”

A brief moment of silence passes after your quick response as you stare at each other, Rose’s smile growing more as you start to waver.

“Ahh! Please stop staring at me like that!” You yell at him, irritated by his expression. You know what that look means, but you don’t want to admit it.

“Come now, there’s no need to be shy about having a crush. Shinji is-“

“I don’t have a crush on him!” You snap, cutting him off with a huff and feeling your face flush with warmth. This was not a conversation you were expecting to have so early in the morning.

“Ahh, a first love. You should be embracing it! In fact, a blossoming romance is-“

“Ok, I’ll be heading out now! I’ve done my job and delivered my report, captain. I suggest you finish your work before Lieutenant Iba comes back.” You interrupt once more, not wanting to hear his whole spiel that he was going to go on about.

You hear him call out your name as you head toward the door. “Don’t be late tomorrow.”

“Right.” You sigh quietly, nervous about the day ahead and hoping that your captain wouldn’t say anything to embarrass you.

❀˖˚ ༘𐙚 Confections & Confessions

The following afternoon, you find yourself at the training grounds in the Fifth Division’s barracks, overseeing a small group of soul reapers from both Squad 3 and 5 as they train together. A few paces away, you can hear Chikane strictly direct the group in front of her, and you can’t help but feel sympathetic at the fearful looks on their faces.

To the other side, you spot Lieutenant Aizen as he politely instructs his group as they look to him in awe, blushes on their cheeks. Gin stands with him to help, the young prodigy making comments every now and then.

Out of the corner of your eye, you spot Rose sitting with Shinji, the two of them chatting as they sip on tea. Your group was closest to where they were, so you could faintly make out what they were saying as you stepped back to watch the soul reapers train in front of you.

“I’m tellin’ ya Rose, ya gotta be more sneaky with lazin’ around.” You hear Shinji express, your heart fluttering at the sound of his drawling voice. It had been a few days since you last saw him, and just the sound of him talking is enough to make you giddy with excitement.

“And how many times must I say that I’m not lazing around like you?”

“Sure, sure.” Shinji’s honey eyes meet yours, causing your gaze to flick away out of habit.

Since when had you been staring at him? You hadn’t even noticed. The anxiety at having been caught staring has your heart racing, but you have to admit to yourself that it wasn’t just being noticed that had you feeling that way. The image of Shinji lounging in his seat stays in your mind; his long and glossy hair shimmering in the sunlight as it sways in the gentle spring breeze, an easy-going expression gracing his handsome features. You feel your cheeks warming, mentally kicking yourself to pull it together—you’re working, after all!

“That reminds me, though,” Rose’s gentle voice rings, his next few words catching your attention. “Your birthday is coming up next week, right?”

That's right! Shinji’s birthday was in just a few days. It had slipped your mind, what with work and all. You had wanted to do something for him, but you weren't quite sure what to do.

“Hm? Yeah, it is.”

“Do you have any plans?” Rose asks curiously, taking a sip from his steaming cup.

“Not really… Maybe I’ll just go out after work for some drinks. Like last year.” Shinji responds in a contemplative manner, tilting his head over at the other blond and reminding him of a shared memory they had.

“Hm, yeah, that was nice. That sake the bar owner offered you was delicious, wasn’t it?”

“It was, now I can’t wait…” Shinji sighs, clearly wanting another taste of the drink.

“So you’re not doing anything during the day, then?” Rose asks after a short pause, quite suspiciously, in your opinion.

“No? As if Sōsuke’ll let me!” Shinji says with a scowl, shooting a glare over at said lieutenant.

“When has that ever stopped you?” Rose deadpans.

Shinji ignores him, continuing on. “Why?”

“Oh, no reason.” Rose glances in your direction, that knowing smile back on his lips. You pretend to ignore him, but he knows you heard. Shinji's perceptive eyes follow his line of sight to you, but before he can question Rose again, clearly not buying what he said, Rose changes the subject.

You can feel Shinji's lingering gaze on your back as you try your hardest to ignore it. You let out the breath you hadn't realized you'd been holding when you heard him get drawn into the conversation with Rose.

You get lost in your thoughts again. You wished to go out with them to the bar, but you know better. It’s not like you could just show up uninvited, and even if you could, you’d feel way too awkward trying to join in. Maybe you could just slip a gift onto his desk at some point during the day? Yeah, you think that sounds like a good idea. But now you’re not sure what you should get him.

As you ponder and try to brainstorm, you hear someone politely call your name. When you glance up, you find one of the soul reapers in your training group looking at you with a concerned expression on his face.

“Oh! Sorry about that, I got lost in thought,” you laugh sheepishly, “Nice work, everyone! Let’s move on to the next exercise.”

Any remaining thoughts of gifts get pushed to the back of your head as you focus back on the training session in front of you. You can think about all that later tonight.

❀˖˚ ༘𐙚 Confections & Confessions

After spending the whole night agonizing over it, you find yourself in front of Rose in his office, desperate for help. You never thought you’d be asking him something like this, as your nerves eat away at your insides.

“What do you need?” He questions, saying your name, a curious look in his eyes as he watches you nervously fiddle with your fingers.

Fidgeting in your spot, you mumble out a reply, “I don’t know what to get him.”

“Get what for whom?” Your sharp eyes glare at him while he laughs heartily.

“I’m just kidding. I, for one, am proud that you are working up the courage to confess your feelings.”

“Woah! I never said anything about confessing!” You blush, trying to push the nerve-wracking thought away. That’s an entire hurdle you are not ready for—even if the idea is sort of exhilarating. “I just want to get him something nice, at the very least.”

Rose thinks it over for a second before offering, “How about you make him some namagashi like nerikiri? I know he enjoys having them on special occasions, especially when Ukitake invites us all over to that specialty tea shop he frequents.”

You consider it, but you’ve never made the traditional dessert before, let alone watched someone make it. So you find yourself a bit hesitant at the idea.

“Plus, if it came from you, I’m sure Shinji would be over the moon.”

You squint at him, trying to read his expression, but you can’t really tell what he meant by that. Or, it's more like you refuse to indulge in the idea that Shinji might like you like that. You don’t want to get your hopes up over nothing. So, you cast his latter statement aside as just flattery before focusing on the idea he brought up.

“I don’t know… I’ve never made anything like that before. I wouldn’t even know where to start.”

“I have a friend who owns a confectionery shop over in the food district. I can introduce you if you’d like.” He offers nicely with a patient smile.

You chew over his offer; if this friend of his could help you out, you think it’s not such a bad idea after all. At the end of the day, you trust Rose’s opinion, not only as your captain but as a friend.

“Ok. If you could, that would be great.”

“Perfect! We can swing by after work. I don’t want Chikane admonishing either of us for skipping the day.” He sighs heavily, and you nod in agreement.

❀˖˚ ༘𐙚 Confections & Confessions

After Rose had introduced you to his friend, you would stop by the confectionery shop every day after work to practice making the namagashi. You spent many hours agonizing away to create a perfectly designed and tasty sweet. The shopkeeper, a kind elderly gentleman, had even given you a premium tea blend to pair with the dessert after seeing how hard you had worked on it.

Today was the 10th of May, Shinji’s birthday, and you had just finished making the delicate sweet mere moments ago as you rushed to the Squad 5 barracks. The shopkeeper had drilled into you the fact that the soft dessert should ideally be eaten immediately, so you had practiced for this by estimating the shortest time it would take to get from one place to another. You had timed it perfectly so that you could place the gift on Shinji’s desk right before he came back with Aizen after a meeting that Rose had told you about. Your captain had kindly turned a blind eye and let you skip out on work to get his done.

Having made it to your destination in under five minutes, you do your best to sneak into the fifth’s barracks, moving quickly to the captain’s office and making sure not to jostle the neatly wrapped gift in your hands. You come face to face with the doors leading to said office and wait a moment, making sure no one is inside before inching your way into the quaint room.

Your nerves are getting to you, but before you can change your mind, you muster all of your courage and quickly move to Shinji’s desk to gently place the present down.

It’s like a weight has lifted off your shoulders when you release the bundle from your hands, all the tension from the past week washing away. You find yourself relieved to finally have achieved what you had practiced so hard on and planned to do.

Now that you’ve accomplished what you came to do, you take a moment to look around the room. While you had been there plenty of times before for work and the times Shinji had drawn you into conversation, you had never taken a moment to have a close look at the place before.

You know you shouldn’t, but something pulls at you to take a look at the shelves in the room. You find a simple comb next to a few bottles that look like they are filled with creams and oils for hair. You can’t help but smile softly and chuckle a bit at that; no wonder Shinji’s hair looks so luscious all the time. He's definitely the type to pay special attention and take care of it so well.

Suddenly, a deep voice breaks your quiet musing. “It looks like you have a visitor, Captain Hirako.”

With a start, you look behind you in alarm, spotting Aizen by the door. The color drains from your face and with dread you realize that you’ve been caught and have no escape out of this, knowing Shinji isn’t far behind.

“Huh? Who is it?” Shinji comes around the corner, his long hair and captain’s haori swaying behind him. His eyes land on your frozen form as the curiosity in them turns to surprise. It quickly shifts, though, to an amused expression as he stares at you. You look like a mouse caught between a cat and a wall.

“Oh? What do we have here? Rose sent ya for somethin’?” Comes Shinji’s immediate response, a playful tone slinking into his voice.

“Um, no, not quite.” You stammer out, mind trying to keep up with everything happening.

“It appears the third seat has brought a gift for you,” Aizen interjects, drawing attention over to Shinji’s desk, where the delicately wrapped nerikiri lay.

You can’t help but cast a quick glare Aizen’s way. Now you really don’t have an out for this.

“Oh? Ya got somethin’ for little ol’ me? How sweet of ya!” Shinji drawls as he saunters over to his desk to pick up the bundle. You feel your face heat up, embarrassed and flustered from the situation and his teasing tone.

A beat of silence passes as you rack your brain, trying to come up with something to say. However, before you can decide on what, Shinji speaks once more.

“Hey Sōsuke. Didn’t ya mention you have to go pick up some stuff from Squad 1?”

“It was paperwork, not just ‘some stuff’, captain. But yes, I did.”

“Why don’tcha go along and do that now, then?”

“Captain, I think-“

“Go on now,” Shinji shoos him away. You stand awkwardly off to the side during the whole interaction, unsure of what to do.

Aizen sighs deeply before replying with a brief, “Yes, captain,” and with a nod of his head, the lieutenant leaves the room.

Now you’re left with Shinji. Alone. Having to explain your way out of this, casually, so that you don’t make a fool of yourself. Ugh, what are you going to do? This was not part of the plan! Why would Aizen draw attention to the gift, and why would you let yourself get distracted when you knew you hadn’t had much time?

Shinji breaks your thoughts as you chastise yourself. “So yer my secret admirer.”

“Huh?”

“I’m just messin’ with ya.” He assures with a chuckle, the teasing lilt in his voice never leaving as he takes hold of the wrapped gift sitting neatly on his desk.

You can hear your heart beating in your ears as he starts to unwrap the artfully tied cloth. “Let's see, what did ya get me?”

When he finally unravels the wrapping to reveal your handmade nerikiri, the wide grin he wears falters, morphing into a pleasant surprise. He stares at it for a few more seconds, noticing the rough edges on the soft treat before asking you, “Did ya make these yerself?”

“I did,” you answer nervously. “I made them in the shape of a daffodil,” you pause, hesitating before saying, “they remind me of you.”

You look away, feeling shy, but you end up missing the blush creeping up his neck and to his cheeks as he looks away as well, his hair hiding his face from you.

“That so…?”

An awkward few seconds pass by before he straightens up, a wide and charming grin tugging on his lips as he glances back at you. “Well then, sweet pea, I’ll savor every last bite!”

Warmth rushes to your already flushed face at his use of the pet name as you try to respond. The butterflies fluttering away in your stomach don’t let up even as you watch him go to brew the tea that you had included with the treat. “Uh, I hope it’s to your liking.”

“These’re great! So I’m sure I will, especially if they’re made by yer sweet hands, darlin'.” He flashes an attractive smirk your way.

He makes his way back over, two cups in his hand as he passes one over to you, gesturing for you to sit with him. He picks up the colorful sweet and takes a bite, letting out a delighted, “mmm,” before taking a sip of tea.

“It’s really good. Thanks, doll.”

“I’m glad you like it! Happy Birthday, Shinji.”

“Thanks,” he smiles brightly. However, you notice it drops slightly as it looks like he mulls something over. “Y’know? Wasn’t expectin’ fer ya to do somethin’ for me.” He gazes into your eyes, a perceptive look in his warm browns. “Why?”

“Well, I guess I got the little push that I needed, and I… guess I also wanted to…” You trail off, getting lost in his eyes as a sudden urge to tell him how you truly feel overwhelms you.

“You wanted to…?” He coaxes in a low tone, voice dropping to a hush.

“I wanted to tell you…”

Should you say it now? Should you tell him your feelings for him? That your eyes look for him in crowded rooms, that you look forward to the days when you get to work with his squad, in the chance that you can get a glimpse of? That you long to be near him, that you long to be with him at the end of the day.

You draw a deep breath, steeling yourself.

“I wanted to say that I like you. More than you could ever know.”

There’s a pause, the air thick with anticipation as you hold your breath, waiting to hear his response.

“Really? Say it again,” he whispers quietly.

“Wha-,” you stammer, but the genuine expression he wears has you repeating yourself, more confidently this time. “I said I like you.”

“Again.”

“I like you.”

“Again.” Ok, now he was just teasing you, a mischievous, cunning grin tugging on his features as he asks you again and again.

“Come on, that’s enough, don’t you think?” You pout, feeling all too flustered. Was he making fun of you? No, he wasn’t, you know better than that. Sure, he loved to make fun of Hiyori and tease those around him, but it was always in good fun, even if it didn’t always look that way with the freckled lieutenant. He would never want to intentionally hurt anyone he cared about; you knew that much from watching him for so long. It was one of his qualities that attracted you in the first place.

“You could say it a million times, and I don’t think I’d ever have enough. I wanna hear ya say it every damn day.”

Your heart flutters at his honest admission. “Don’t you think you’d get tired of hearing it that often?”

“I’d never get tired of hearin’ ya say that you like me! Would ya get tired of hearin’ me say it?” He retorts, questioning you in return.

You tilt your head curiously. Hold on, did you miss something? “I don’t recall hearing you say that you like me, though.”

A beat passes as he stares back at you before sheepishly scratching the back of his head. “Oh, that’s my bad, darlin’. I got all caught up in the moment that I forgot to say my piece.”

Shinji’s goofy grin drops as a more serious air surfaces around him. He faces you in earnest, placing a lithe hand on yours.

“I like you too, y’know. Have for a while now,” he leans in closer to you, the crisp scent of his cologne invading your senses and drawing you closer to him. “Ya just made me the happiest man in the world right now.” He grins again, but it’s softer now, more tender as he confesses his feelings for you.

Your chest swells with a pleasant warmth, a sense of relief washing over you. The butterflies fluttering about inside you, not dancing out of nervousness now but from true joy.

“Really?” You ask quietly.

“Mhm,” he’s just a hairsbreadth away from you as he leans in closer, eyes flicking to your lips.

“Then say it again,” you whisper, his eyes flashing back to yours, a mirth glimmering in them before he chuckles lightly.

“I like ya,” and just when his lips were about to press to yours, nearby chatter from outside his office causes you to pull back.

You clear your throat, “I should be heading back now.” You stand, dusting off your shihakushō. Shinji follows you, doing the same, albeit with a disgruntled look, clearly upset at having missed the chance to kiss you.

“Headin’ back so soon?” He sighs, missing the way you chuckle quietly to yourself at his irritated grumbling.

“Yeah, well, lunch is already almost over, and it would be kind of awkward to have to explain everything to Lieutenant Aizen when he comes back. So...”

At the mention of his good-natured lieutenant, Shinji groans, tossing his head to the side. “Ugh, yer right.” He stares off into the distance for a second but before you can question him on it he’s speaking again.

“Thanks for all this.” He gestures to the empty box you had used for the nerikiri. “This is the best birthday present I could ever ask for.”

“I’m glad,” you smile sweetly. “Well, I hope you have fun with the others later tonight.”

“What’re ya sayin’?” He gives you a confused look, “Yer comin’ too!”

“Are you sure?”

”'Course I am, silly, otherwise I wouldn’t have said it!” He exclaims, making it clear that he wanted you there with him.

"Well then, I look forward to it!"

“Yer gonna make my birthday night even more special,” he voices suggestively, a teasing smirk quirking on his lips. "Plus, I want the other part of my gift." His eyes flicker down to your lips.

You’re so glad you ended up confessing, you think as you blush at his insinuation. You just know you aren’t going to hear the end of it when Rose finds out, telling you he was right.

Sosuke Aizen x f. Reader

3.1k

Scenario: Reader is Aizen’s partner and has arrived at Hueco Mundo. She is feeling lonely and sad and her ice Zanpakuto manifests all those emotions into physical symptoms, putting her in danger.

Warning/TRIGGERS: sfw, angst, fluff, mention of death, despair, sadness, grief, depression, bullying, fluff ending.

a/n: This was a specific request by @kirasousuke Thank you for trusting me on this! I hope it was somewhat to your satisfaction.

Till death do us part.

Those unspoken vows echoed through your grieving soul, a bond and a commitment to a man who was now regarded as a traitor. Although those words were never uttered, the red string of fate is what kept you anchored to this relationship.

You looked ill, your body stiff like a block of ice and vigorless. You sat at the dining table, and arrancar servants were serving you the evening dinner. The coming and going of the Arrancars, as they piled food onto the table, was nothing more than a blur in the background. Your eyes were locked onto the empty seat in front of you. That empty seat belonged to your husband— the man who you barely saw since your arrival. The man who you barely left before your departure.

It felt like only yesterday when you were writing poetry in his Captain’s quarters, reading aloud as he quietly listened to each carefully chosen word. Your soft voice calmed his racing thoughts.

You do not blame him for the decisions he made. The betrayal was already written in his books. However, he only chose to share his plans at the right moment— the day before the departure. It did not give you enough time to prepare; physically, mentally and emotionally. And so, you were left with a deep wound in your heart—and the only way your body knew to heal it was to freeze it over with a thin layer of ice.

You heard footsteps from behind you, recognizing them instantly. Actually, no. They did not sound like your husband's footsteps. At least not the version you fell in love with in the Soul Society.

His footsteps held more authority. Each strike of his heel sent ripples of fear through the Arrancar servants, who hastily stepped aside to allow his entrance.

“Lord Aizen”, you heard the weak voices shaking with fear. Why did they fear your dear beloved husband? Oh yes. He was not the same sweet innocent Captain of the fifth squad anymore. He instilled fear among his creations and demanded respect like never before.

You watch him take a seat across from you. You could hear some whispers and gossip stir amongst the idling arrancars.

“She dare not stand up and greet Lord Aizen!”

“Even if she is the wife, respect is still demanded!”

“She thinks all high and mighty of herself”.

Aizen paid no attention to the brewing whispers as it was all beneath him. But underneath all that facade, it fed his pride.

And as a supportive wife, you were proud of the man he had become. Unfortunately, you lost the man you once knew in the process.

He gave the arrancars a quick side glance. The chatter disappeared as they all cleared the room but their haunting whispers remained inside your head.

“Not hungry?”, he asked, noticing you did not touch the food that was so generously offered.

You weakly nod your head. This was your first dinner together in Hueco Mundo, so you could have shown more enthusiasm but you had no energy and no appetite.

“Neither am I”. He leaned back, grabbing his cup of tea and giving it a gentle sip. Now that was a familiar sound that wrapped around you like a memory, steeped in nostalgia. Sadly, that warm feeling didn’t linger long enough to melt the growing sheet of ice slowly enveloping you in despair.

He was interrupted by the piercing voice of a small female arrancar. She had made her entrance and offered a deep bow.

It annoyed Aizen to have this rare, peaceful moment with his wife interrupted, though he was the one who had made the summons.

You looked down at the petite and fragile-looking arrancar. Looks can be deceiving and you know better than to judge someone's status based on their appearance. You are suddenly reminded of Captain Hitsugaya, who looked like a young child yet he had so much wisdom to offer regarding your ice Zanpakuto.

You felt the heavy burden of memories wash over you as you sat in silence, reminiscing with a heavy heart. Though you wore a stoic facade with practiced ease, it did little to fool your beloved.

“You’ve seemed lonely since our arrival,” he observed, his eyes drifting toward the small Arrancars. “Loneliness can be either a blessing”, his gaze lingered, “or a curse. I can tell that you’re not faring well. Perhaps what you need is company.”

Was it truly loneliness?

Did he not see that you yearned for your dear friends and family that you left behind in the Soul Society? Did he truly believe that what you felt was loneliness and that anyone could easily replace those precious bonds that were shattered as soon as the sky split open?

“I can't be entertaining you as often. Time is slipping away. But I have gathered a few who will be of some use to you”.

The girl, Loly, remained kneeling, not daring to lift her head in his presence. Even Aizen could sense the hesitation—the barely concealed hostility—radiating from Loly. And yet, he was confident that no one would dare hurt his wife. Unfortunately, he underestimated the jealous storm that raged amongst his female army.

———

“Stuck babysitting his whore”, Loly mumbled under her breath while walking down the maze-like hallways of the grand fortress.

You followed your husband’s advice—despite your better judgment—and decided to walk with the younger Arrancar. ‘Show my wife around,’ was his suggestion. Loly didn’t protest at the time, but it was obvious she loathed you.

“Hurry the hell up! I can't hold your hand. If you get lost, it's on you whose room you end up in”, she yelled while you lagged behind, taking cautious footsteps. You kept your distance, leaving enough space in case you had to react to an unexpected attack. You were guarded, but nothing could have prepared you for what she had schemed.

Loly had suddenly come up with a diabolical plan. It was hard for her to contain her excitement or suppress the grin tugging at her lips. From your position behind her, all you could see was her tiny figure, playfully skipping through the eerie, shadowy hallways. Suddenly, she took a sharp turn and disappeared.

The wide corridor was dimly lit by candles, your flickering shadows dancing against the walls. Silence took over— just the sound of your racing heartbeat and soft shuffling footsteps. Unexpected danger lay ahead. Your instincts had given you plenty of warnings from the start, yet you proceeded without hesitation.

You place a firm hand on the hilt of your Zanpakuto and press forward. The farther you walked down the empty corridor, the darker it became. A heaviness settled over you, pressing against your body. It worsened with every step—the air thickened, slowing you down. An evil presence churned your stomach.

What made it more revolting was knowing these were all Aizen’s creations.

What you failed to realize was that you were walking directly into the heart of a den where several of the Espada lay in wait. You hadn’t yet made their acquaintance, but you were about to.

You heard a whisper and a giggle. It was Loly. She was taunting you, hiding amongst the shadows, her smaller body easy to conceal.

You could blindly swing your weapon around but that would do you no good. That was what Loly was counting on. Unfortunately for her, you were more level-headed than she had anticipated.

So she turned it up a notch and released a bala directly at your face. “Mess that pretty little face of yours”, she said out loud with a tiny giggle.

You were quick to dodge her attack. She tried again. Predictability was your defence. Her actions were nothing more than a spoiled child throwing a tantrum and tossing balls at you.

After several attempts, the attacks had stopped. Shattered glass and collapsed walls left a thin layer of smoky haze and the rising dust further obstructed your view.

The silence took over again. There was not a stir of movement. However, from deep within, danger had gathered. Through the murky fog, you suddenly noticed several pairs of eyes. Blue, gold, green, etc

The spiritual pressure was rising and you knew these spectators were of a different level. You embraced danger with open arms, ready to strike, your pride as a fighter was instilled to your core. You once belonged to Squad 11 and you had that inherent desire to seek out danger.

Before the situation could turn ugly, a long blade intervened, plunging through the air like a pole to separate you from the chaos hidden behind the cloud of dust.

The owner of the Zanpaktuo slowly stepped forward, his weapon slowly retracting as he got closer to you.

“Quite the party here. Pity I wasn't invited”, Gin revealed himself with a smirk you did not trust.

“I was walking the hallways and came across…”, you looked back at the shadows but they had all disappeared as soon as Gin showed up.

“There is nothing here. I think you are just bored. If you needed some company, all you had to do was ask”. He took a few more steps towards you but stopped, realizing your hand was still resting on the hilt of your Zanpakuto.

He knew better than to trigger your icy rage. Especially when he was trying to gain some Aizen points.

——

You had made your escape. And that particular day was never mentioned again. You were surprised that his second in command, Gin, did not rat you or Loly out. Actually, you weren't surprised at all. That snake had an agenda and you had already become his pawn.

Despite her actions, Loly continued to serve Aizen, putting on an innocent demeanour that honestly fooled no one.

You did not tell Aizen what had happened that day. You felt like you would be tattling on her. It was childish and you would be stooping to her level. You did not want to win favours. But you also did not want to make enemies in a den of lions.

You kept your emotions suppressed, the sadness and anger were collecting deep inside you, and ice slowly numbed the emotional pain. Unbeknownst to you, a sheet of ice was slowly settling around your organs and starting to cause actual physical damage.

Loly continued to torment you— mentally, emotionally and physically. She would be sneaky about it, sly enough to slip under Aizen’s radar.

Aizen was too hyper-focused and fixated on his lifelong dream. You did not want to be a burden. Your petty problems did not belong in his grand scheme of things.

You became homesick and isolated. You felt useless when he would include his army of arrancars in his plans while you were asked to simply sit and watch. Look beautiful for him, and don’t get your hands dirty. You were his wife—leave the messy work to everyone else.

It made you sick. You were growing sicker every day. You didn't have a fever. Quite the opposite. Your core temperature was dropping. You shivered and wrapped yourself in warm blankets while taking shelter in his bed chambers. Little by little, your body was becoming an ice statue from the inside out. Sorrow and grief had taken hold of your heart. Your zanpakuto was reacting to your emotions and assumed you were under attack. The ice was an unconscious attempt to protect your body. However, it was making it all worse.

The longer you sat in silence, immersed in your misery and grief, the more you were reminded of the dear friends you had left behind. The image of Captain Unohana’s face as she watched you ascend into the sky, hand in hand with the traitor—your husband, Aizen—haunted you. You never let it show, but in the stillness of night, far from cold, judgmental stares, you wept. Leaving Unohana and your friends, shattered your heart. But leaving him would have completely destroyed you.

You lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as tears traced down your cheeks. Even those tears, cold to the touch, brought no comfort. You had become lost in your delusion. Though no one was there, you spoke to her, feeling Captain Unohana’s gentle hand rest upon your frost-kissed forehead, checking your temperature, her touch offering a momentary balm to your pain.

“Captain Unohana? I feel cold”, you whispered to your inner illusions as they danced around you.

She didn't say a word. Her gentle expression and nurturing smile suddenly faded. Her eyebrows lowered and her forehead furrowed. She clenched her jaw and gave you an icy glare, stealing away that warmth she once brought. A chill ran down your spine and you visibly began to shiver. Your internal grief and despair began to take on a physical form.

And there you lay, on the block of ice, as your friends surround you, watching you meet your demise.

A slow but numbing end.

You heard the door open, but you couldn’t turn your head. Your neck was stiff and you felt completely lethargic. Your friends still stared down at you, their piercing glares like needles driving into your numb flesh.

The footsteps drew closer with each passing second, each one feeling like the passing of a day. In your frigid state, time itself had slowed. It felt like an eternity before your visitor reached your bedside, dissolving all the illusions and replacing them with a face you most dread.

Loly’s grin had taken over, her giggles like piercing laughter that was about to shatter the icy glass that enveloped you whole. Your will to fight was also taken down, and all you are now is an empty shell of your former self.

You had to admit it— some of that coldness in your heart was because of jealousy. You were envious of the arrancars and how much Aizen relied on them while you were left to freeze in your despair and loneliness.

If you were to die today, whether a natural death or at the hands of this brat, maybe he could turn you into a useful arrancar? Was that possible? For Aizen, nothing is impossible.

But did you want to live that life? At least in your current, pathetic condition, you did not have to fight your former friends and family.

Loly continued with her barrage of verbal insults. At some point, you had tuned her out— her little figure popping up from different angles, spitting incoherent insult after insult until they blurred into mumbles. Your vision grew blurry and her small figure began to multiply around you— first doubling, then tripling, until eventually it was all you could see.

The obnoxious brat extended her arms, daggers in her many hands, their tips glistening with venom.

“Just a small slit across your throat would do the trick”, she mused, almost sweetly. It would be enough to end your misery — the cold, suffocating coffin you were already being buried within.

You closed your heavy eyelids, knowing they would be frozen shut forever. You brace for the sharp, wet tip of her dagger to pierce through your skin. But what you got instead was a ray of heat penetrating deep through your heart, gradually cracking the surface of the ice that had taken hold of your soul.

Your body felt warm and light, the heaviness slowly melting away from within. You opened your eyes, wondering if you had reached the next phase of your feeble life.

As your eyelids fluttered open, you met his protective, concerned gaze. His rich brown eyes pulled you from the depths of despair, and you suddenly found the will to fight.

You stood at death’s doorstep, and once again, he came to your rescue.

“My beloved, why have you abandoned your will to live?” he asked with a soothing voice, genuine confusion on his face.

He gave you everything. Anything you wanted, it was yours. So why were you so ungrateful? That was the meaning you saw behind his words.

You felt ashamed of your weak resolve. How dare you decide to leave the one who risked his plans to bring you to Hueco Mundo.

It was his deepest desire to have you at his side as he ascended the throne and finally fulfilled his lifelong dream.

He didn’t just want you there — he needed you.

He needed you to cheer him on, to ground him when necessary, to offer comfort at the most crucial moments — and, above all, to witness his triumph.

You weren’t just there to witness his greatness. You were part of his plan.

“I’m sorry”. The words came out effortlessly— no longer were you stuck in your icy despair.

“Only the weak apologize”, he reminded you while gently brushing your hair out of your face. His other hand was resting on your chest, the warmth radiating out from his hand was indescribable.

“Oh. I’m sor-“, you cut yourself from repeating the same mistake. That earned you a smile on his perfect face. A genuine smile that was stripped of all illusions. A real smile only you have been blessed and will cherish forever.

There was a moment of silence— his warm presence comforted you.

“Now…will you accompany me to the gates?” He was talking about the garganta that was about to open. The next phase of his plan was already in motion.

“I won't be coming with you?” you asked, disappointment heavy in your voice.

“Not today. I need someone to hold down the fort while I am gone.”

“You know the arrancars won't listen to me. They don't respect me”, you explained your hesitation.

“Respect is earned, my dear. Ain't I a perfect example of that?” He paused for a second, leaning forward to plant a tender kiss on your thawing forehead. “But I wouldn't mind if you used the ‘Lord Aizen is my husband’ card. You have the power to bring them to your knees with that alone”.

You let out a soft chuckle and slowly sit up. His arms held you close to his chest. The last sliver of ice finally surrendered to the warmth of his body. Not even your icy Zanpakuto could stand a chance against Sosuke Aizen.

Time was ticking, and neither of you wanted to break away from the embrace.

You had to be the brave one and let him go. Your selfishness would serve no purpose in the greater cause.

“Now you don't want your enemies to be waiting on you. Go. Be careful. And come back to me….Sosuke. Come back to me just as you left”.

Unfortunately, that was a promise he could not fulfill.

This is a part II to this fic. Without further ado...GIRLDAD!Shinji !!!!

A special shout out to @villainsrtasty for the pigtail's idea!

With your daughter taking up space in your home now, your son was going through a clingy phase, making grabby hands and whining for you constantly, desperate to be the baby again. In the past, Shinji would pout and grumble something about your son favoring you over him, complaining that he was such a "momma's boy," and that he was basically chopped liver in comparison, but now that your daughter had been born, she kept Shinji's hands full. He hardly had time to complain about your son's neediness when your daughter was all over him every waking hour, and he loved every second of it.

It was obvious from the beginning that she was meant to have a special relationship with your husband, the daughter he so badly wanted, and now she was here. In a room full of people, her little eyes would dart about, searching for him, a smile spreading on her face only when she found him. She clung to him the same way your son did to you, curling the fabric of his clothes in her tiny fingers or plopping down in his lap with a book in hand, a silent command that he read to her. Shinji did any and everything she requested of him. It made you proud, the way she had him wrapped around her little finger. She hadn't even been able to talk yet and he still always understood exactly what she wanted and got it to her without hesitation, better than even you could. She was so young, so new to the world, and already spoiled, sure to be trouble the older she got.

There was also Shinji’s protectiveness, and a new special kind that developed, reserved for her and her only. Jokingly, or maybe not so jokingly, when another baby boy shared toys with her and she followed him everywhere he went, Shinji lectured her on the way home, as if she could understand. “No, no boyfriends. Yer mine for life.”

“What do you mean?” You’d tease him. “That’s my little heartbreaker. Her and I are gonna get all done up and go out clubbing when she’s old enough. She’s going to be my party girl partner in crime…”

“No way!” He’d whine. “The both of ya stay home with me. The day some slimeball gets to her and tries to take advantage of my baby girl...” He didn’t need to finish his thought, the hint of the threat in his narrowed eyes.

“So when some idiot’s approaching her with some corny ass pickup line…?” You side-eyed him, also with no need to finish the thought.

“If he’s as handsome and charismatic as me, then maybe I’ll consider letting it slide.” He grinned smugly.

On one of the better nights, your son was napping upstairs, and your daughter was wound for sound, giggling wildly as she made attempts to pull your husband's blonde hair into pigtails. The more he made noises of protests and "ouch!"'s, the more amusing she found it. Though it was at the expense of his comfort, her laughter was one of the most beautiful sounds you had ever heard, and you were sure he agreed, hence why he endured the pain. You seared the sound into your brain, pulling your phone out to capture a short video of the moment to keep forever, smiling distantly as you watched her tangle her hands into his bangs.

"She's kind of hurting me," he chuckled to you. You tucked your phone away and moved to grab her, with other ideas to keep her entertained, but he put a hand up to stop you, looking appalled that you would even think to take her from him. "Not so fast. She thinks it's funny."

You laughed and shook your head, watching as only moments later she tugged on his blonde tufts so hard she jerked his head down. You intervened despite the fact that he'd let her rip his hair out if she so desired. You weren't sure what it was about your husband that made him have such a history of getting beat on by small girls, snickering to yourself as you thought of how funny Hiyori would find your daughter’s antics.

She tried to pry your hands off of her hips as you pulled her away, but you held tight, pulling her into your chest. "You like hurting Daddy, do you?" You asked her, tickling her stomach and making her giggle again, squirming in your hold.

Meanwhile, Shinji had busied himself with pulling his hair into the ponytails she wanted to see, excitedly showing her the two small sprouts of blonde on the sides of his head when he was done. "You want matching ones, girly?" He offered her, ignoring your teasing giggles as you admired his silly appearance. Anything for his girl.

She squealed and laughed and climbed into his lap eagerly, turning her little head this way and that as she impatiently awaited for him to style her hair. He gently combed it away from her face with his fingers and gathered what he could into two little pigtails. They were tiny, her hair barely fitting into them, but it was only a matter of time until it'd be longer, and you were certain Shinji would be fashioning it into unique styles for her every day.

She curiously reached for her head to feel for her father's creation, only to yank them out, grinning proudly and looking for her father's adverse reaction.

Shinji sighed. "Brat."

He couldn’t stay mad at her for long, an affectionate smile spreading on his lips, gathering her in his arms and pulling her tightly into his chest, tickling her the way you had moments earlier. Even as her flailing arms and legs delivered blows to his body, he remained unfazed, peppering her tiny head and face with loud, dramatic smooches. It was obvious to anyone, but to you most of all, how in love he was. It made you snort, his pigtails and his clinginess and his doting, how someone so dangerous and deadly could also be the goofiest and the softest. It made your heart swell too, the father of your children, and what an amazing father he was.

On one of the not-so-good nights, it was still evident to you how much and how hard he loved his girls. Sickness frequently paid a visit to your household with the two little germs running rampant, and a particularly vicious flu had struck when Shinji was at his busiest. He managed to avoid the plague, gone for long hours due to the demands of the Soul Society, and you were left to bear the brunt of it. Just as your son’s condition was starting to improve, the virus invaded yours and your daughter’s systems at the same time.

Feeling deathly ill and weaker than ever, you had no choice but to rise from your bed, to fend off the nausea and fight through the fever and chills to take care of your daughter who was suffering just the same, all while handling your son as well. As a mother, you had learned to make sacrifices for your children’s wellbeing and had grown accustomed to it, but this challenged and broke you down in a way you hadn’t experienced before. It got worse before it got better, and you had no idea how you were managing, sleepwalking through each moment. You couldn’t eat, could hardly sleep, and were constantly on the verge of vomiting and/or collapsing, but you were forced to soldier through it for them, hiding from Shinji just how sick you were knowing that he had his own matters to handle.

He hadn’t returned home until late that night when your daughter was crying incessantly, the poor thing tortured by a slew of symptoms that seemed to not want to go away despite your many remedies, and you were trying but failing not to cry with her.

Her tiny, fragile body in so much pain, she went back and forth between pushing you away from her and grabbing onto you, wanting to be cuddled, but frustrated that it was not solving all of her problems. Snot and tears shined on her face as she wept intensely. You had become hopeless, sharing both her physical and emotional pain. Shivering, wrapping around her tightly, you sobbed with her, telling her that you were sorry and pressing your lips to her burning forehead.

If you could, you would take all of her heat, all of her chills, all of her upset stomach, and all of her boogers, even if it meant doubling your own suffering. You’d do it just so you didn’t have to hear the heartbreaking sound of her anguish, of your failure to help her. But alas, you were just as beaten down as her, and simultaneously wishing that you could be her size and her age again, crawling into someone’s lap and having them hold and comfort you and tell you that it would all be okay again soon.

Shinji walked in on the two of you in hysterics, your son playing with toys nearby, watching the scene unfold from a place of innocent curiosity. Your daughter was wailing so hard, she hadn’t even noticed that her savior had returned. With a deep frown, your husband instantly took her from you, and she melted into him, tucking her runny nose into his robes as he caressed her hair and back, shushing her and cooing to her and rocking her to sleep.

On cue, your son stumbled over to you, getting into your lap now that your hands were free. You snuggled him into you desperately, your sweet little guy, subduing your sobs so that your sick daughter could have peace. Shinji threw you a concerned look as he did everything he could to console your daughter, not stopping until she was drifting off in his protective embrace, just the medicine she needed.

When there were tiny snores escaping her stuffy nose, he disappeared to ease her into her crib, returning quickly to remedy you next. Your son didn’t make much of a fuss when Shinji pulled him from you, knowing that his mother wasn’t herself right now. Your husband reached for your forehead, brows furrowing as he felt the immense heat radiating from your skin, though he didn’t need to confirm your fever to clock that you were ill. The sight of your pale skin, glassy eyes, and hunched, shaky body were evidence enough.

“Why didn’t ya call me?” He asked softly, wiping stray tears from your cheeks. In his lap, your son observed, his large round eyes looking up at you as if he wanted an answer too.

“I didn’t want you to worry,” your voice broke. “I thought I could handle it on my own, but I feel so bad, Shinji.” Tears threatened to spill again, and you didn’t hesitate to curl into his free arm, just as clingy and needy as your daughter had been. “I can’t do this.”

“If I had known you were this sick, I never would have left ya here alone with them,” he said sternly. “You need to rest, sweetheart.”

“Don’t cry, Ma Ma,” your son chimed in.

It tore through your heart. You reached for him, hugging Shinji with him sandwiched in between. “I’m sorry, baby. I’m okay.”

“Come on.” Your husband gently tugged the back of your shirt before rising, pulling you up with him while he balanced his son in one arm. “Let’s get ya to bed too.”

“But-” you started to protest, throwing your son a worried glance.

“No buts,” Shinji interjected. “We need a guys night anyway.” He looked towards his son, managing half a grin before placing a hand on your lower back, gently nudging you forward. “C’mon.”

After letting him feed you medicine and tuck you in, the last thing you saw before entering a night full of broken sleep, strange dreams, and fevered hallucinations was your husband’s fleeting silhouette, your son on his hip. You never fully woke, but throughout the night, Shinji was in and out of your bed, sometimes with your son, sometimes with your daughter, sometimes with both. When your eyes peeled open again, early in the morning before the sun had even risen, all three of them were tangled in the sheets, your son nuzzled into your chest, and your daughter on the other side of him, poking Shinji awake.

You jolted upwards at the sight of his sleeping figure, head spinning, sweat clinging to every part of your body, your mind not quite all there at this hour. Your poor son jerked awake at your side, the whole room coming back to consciousness at once.

“Aren’t you late?!” You gasped at your husband.

“What?” He asked groggily, turning onto his side and wrapping an arm around his daughter in one swift motion. She laughed at him, clearly in higher spirits than she was last night, as he squinted at you.

“For work,” you fretted. “Don’t you need to be at the barracks?”

“Momo’s gonna take care of things,” he informed you hoarsely, letting his eyes flutter closed again. “I’m staying here today.”

“Oh.” You sunk back down into bed as your son clawed at you, trying to pull you back into your previous position, though you thought there was no way you were going to get back to sleep now, not with how sweaty you were.

“How are ya feeling?” Shinji asked you as his daughter crawled around, attempting to play peekaboo with the blankets. “Cause’ this one seems to be doing better…” He nodded towards her with a lazy smile.

“Better.” You wiped your forehead. “Seems like my fever broke, at least for now.”

“Mmm, that’s good,” he hummed. “My poor girls.” He pouted, launching into a rant. “I’m so sad. Her nose is so stuffy.” He looked to his daughter, his fingers cradling her head. “Do you know how annoying a stuffy nose is? And my baby has to have one? This world can be so cruel!”

“You’re gonna get it next,” you huffed a laugh at his dramatics. “All cozy with her snot all over you.”

“Nah, I don’t get sick,” he assured with a smirk.

“Yeah, yeah.” You rolled your eyes. “We’ll see.”

“Don’t care,” he grumbled. “It’s worth it. I’d do anything for her,” he said seriously.

“I know you would,” you cooed, mindlessly finding your son’s back to rub soothing circles into.

Knowing that Shinji was back now, and you were safe, that you weren’t alone in this, it made your body soften with content, falling back into a drowsy state. Without realizing it, as you soothed your son, you were self-soothing too. With the four of you pressed together soundly, you could relax. You could take care of your little family and allow yourself to be taken care of too.

“Thank you,” you mumbled to your husband as your eyes fell shut again. “For taking care of us, for taking care of me. Thank you for staying.”

He responded, “I love you,” in an explanatory tone, in a way that said I need no thanks, I’m not doing this for thanks. His words from earlier pierced through your head again, “I’d do anything for her.”

You drifted off again with a smile on your lips, no more strange nightmares to be had when you were surrounded by so much love. “I love you too, Daddy.”

Of course, Shinji did eventually end up getting sick. There was no way of avoiding it, not with how he was glued to you and your daughter until the both of you got better.

You took care of him with the same tenderness he had, nursing him back to health as you continued to juggle your children with your energy somewhat restored. Your daughter, his little best friend, knew there was something wrong with her father, and as he spent most of the day in bed, she was there with him, snuggling into his chest or pressing a cold cloth to his head with no idea what she was doing but watching you do the same, so it must have been something helpful. She even offered him her comfort stuffed animal, a serious token of affection as she wouldn’t ever allow anyone else to have it. Shinji accepted it graciously, cuddling it tightly when she wasn’t there. You snapped a sneaky picture of him sound asleep, the stuffed creature tucked under his arm, and made it your new home screen wallpaper, your babies already taking up your lock screen. Now you had the whole collection.

When he was better again, heading back to resume his duties as a Captain, your daughter wailed after him, crying for her “Dada,” having been spoiled to have his presence around so much. He himself seemed to be on the verge of tears, apologizing profusely and promising his sweetheart that he’d be back again for her later. You tried to tell her that you’d still be around, but she didn’t seem interested.

You shared an exasperated look with him, knowing that you were going to have to deal with her crying and missing him until she was distracted by something else. “Who’s chopped liver now?” You laughed.

“Sorry,” he said sheepishly. “She’s a Daddy’s girl.”

Indeed, she was, and you knew deep down that there was no other way for your little family to be.

some quick Shinji fluff so you can all go to bed and have sweet dreams about him tonight <3 no Sunday scaries round here (there still definitely are but i am doing my darnest to ignore them)!

You woke with a gasp and a pounding heart, disoriented at being ungracefully torn from your slumber. The last bits of the traumatizing scene your subconscious invented plagued your mind, making you tremble.

At your side, Shinji stirred awake. Sometimes, it was if you shared a body. When you were in distress, he felt it. Your terror woke him just the same as it did you.

"What's wrong?" His voice was hoarse from deep sleep. He was on you immediately, slender fingers delicately finding your face in the dark to cup your cheek. Your frame against his, he could feel you trembling, and that was all the answer he needed. "It's okay, you're okay. I'm here. I'm right here," he cooed, his hand pushing your head into his chest, hugging you tightly to still your shaking.

You curled around him, your teddy bear, finding comfort in the softness of his bare skin. You buried your face into his chest, inhaling his scent, feeling his steady heartbeat, basking in his warmth. All the while, he stroked your hair, breathing slowly in and out, staying calm to encourage you to do the same. He pressed kisses into the top of your head, anything and everything to make you feel at ease again, to remind you that he was here, and that as long as he was, you were safe.

He reminded you of that. "You know I won't let anything hurt you."

"I know," you chirped, reflecting on the nightmare with a shiver. "It was just so scary. It felt so real."

"I know," he affirmed you, fingers tangling in your hair protectively. "But it wasn't. This is now. I'm real, and I'm better than that shit."

You giggled into his chest, squirming affectionately in his hold. "You are."

"I'll kick your nightmares' ass." You could hear the lazy smirk in his voice. It made your heart flutter, how you adored him.

"I don't think that's how it works."

"I'll make it work."

After that, you didn't need him to do any nightmare-ass-kicking. You slept soundly, thinking of his sweet words and wrapped in his warm embrace, knowing that you'd always be safe as long as that's where you were - with him.

I tried to write for another character but Shinji LITERALLY stormed into my room, flipped my desk, threw my laptop, broke my phone, spit on me and DEMANDED I write for him again

You'd been stressing and working long hours lately, catching little sleep. Today was another long one, running on only a few hours of rest. It was hardly evening, and you'd surpassed your manic, delirious phase and were now crashing, nodding off, eyes fluttering closed only for you to snap your head back up and force your eyes to remain peeled. Shinji was thoroughly explaining something to you and you could not for the life of you catch a single word he was saying, each one going in one ear and out the other just as quickly. You tried and failed over and over again to focus. Pain stung your tired eyes and your body felt much heavier than usual, nearly impossible to keep upright.

At first, Captain Hirako hadn't noticed, too involved in the work at hand and talking through something with you. It wasn't until he glanced your way again and noticed how lifeless you looked that something wasn't right.

He stopped mid sentence, not that you were conscious enough to notice, "(Y/N)?" He asked, narrowing his eyes skeptically. "Are you feeling alright?"

Hearing your name coming out of his mouth awakened you, at least enough to snap back to attention for the moment. "Hm? Sorry?" You were too tired to even worry about the harsh look he was giving you.

Shinji sighed. "Yeah, that's what I thought."

He stood abruptly from where he sat, approaching you. He got on one knee before you, looking up to you with concern. "Have you been getting enough sleep? Or is something else bothering you?"

"I'm fine, really." You lazily waved a dismissive hand, lying about your unwell state out of habit. "Can you just repeat the last thing you said?"

"I think we should call it a day," he ignored you. "I'll walk you home."

"Captain." You forced yourself to stand, trying to prove that you were of sound mind. You couldn't have yourself getting in trouble. "I don't think that's necessary. The task at hand is more important."

Shinji slowly rose, looking stern. "It is necessary. We can't do quality work if you can hardly stay awake."

He moved away to gather his belongings. You stayed where you were, guilt and worry waking you a little more and adding to your list of pains. It was too late. You were in trouble.

Speaking less formally now and more as his friend, you asked him, "are you mad at me?" You frowned while you waited for him to look at you, shuffling in place nervously.

"Of course I'm not mad," Shinji laughed at your puppy-dog behavior. "Just what kind of a guy do you think I am?"

"I wasn't even listening to you." You hung your head in shame. "I've failed you today."

"Don't be dramatic," he continued. "Taking care of yourself is the most important thing you can do - not this 'task at hand' nonsense you're spewing." You noticed that he had gathered your belongings as well while you were hesitating, holding them along with his. "Let's get going."

You followed him out of the office, a dreamy swell of adoration in your chest. "Oh, thank you."

You stood outside of your door with Shinji. The sun had set a little while ago, painting the landscape in the early stages of darkness. You could still see the Captain perfectly clear, turning to face him.

"Thank you again," you told him, voice coming out soft and wispy in your exhausted state.

"Let's meet again tomorrow at noon," he said seriously, reluctantly passing you your belongings. "Sleep in if you can."

"I will do my best." You forced a smile.

Neither of you moved. "Do you need anything?" Shinji asked gently. "Some tea or medicine to help you sleep?"

You were so tired, you doubted you needed anything to get to bed. "Tea would be nice actually." You supposed you were just looking for a chance to spend more time with him, even if it meant having to stay awake a little longer.

You'd always adored Shinji, and that adoration was further highlighted in moments like this, where he was putting you before your Soul Reaper work, encouraging you to take care of yourself and assisting you there.

He smiled, though it came out in that smirky way of his, like he as holding back laughter. Then he opened your door and went inside like he owned the place and was inviting you in. You followed, haphazardly discarding your belongings along the way.

You sat in your small kitchen as Shinji flowed about to make your tea, asking you simple questions here and there to navigate your kitchen. You were nodding off again when he placed the steaming mug before you, sitting across from you with his own cup to enjoy.

You sat in a comfortable silence with him, sipping tea. You were about halfway through your beverage when Shinji was at your side, his hand on your arm prepared to pull you up. You realized then you had been sitting there with your eyes closed, poised to pass out at any moment sitting in your kitchen.

"Let's get you to bed," he chuckled quietly, his voice sounding distant when you were halfway to the dream world. You loved that voice, trusted that voice. Right now it was a beacon of light for you to follow to get to sleep.

He pulled you out of your chair and stayed glued to your side, holding you upright, as the two of you went the short distance to your bedroom. As soon as you caught sight of your bed you went forward, unceremoniously collapsing onto the mattress.

"Do you have pjs?" He asked you, gesturing to your many drawers, though your face was buried in your comforter.

At the sound of pjs, you shot up, stumbling like a drunk over to the drawer that held your comfortable night clothing. You made quick work of pulling it open and grabbing the first thing on top, which happened to be a rather scandalous, frilly, girly nightdress. Without thinking, immediately after you slammed your dresser shut you began dropping your uniform, undressing right then and there to hurriedly get into the cozy material.

"What are you - you maniac!" Shinji quickly spun around and crossed his arms over his chest. Even if you didn't care or notice, he wasn't going to take advantage of you while you were in such a vulnerable state and watch you while you got naked. He didn't turn back to look at you again until he heard the sound you thumping back into bed, your Soul Reaper uniform left messily where you had dropped it from your body.

His jaw dropped when he saw you, splayed out on your stomach, wearing that ridiculously short gown that hardly covered anything. He felt like he was being tested by the universe, catching the slightest glimpse of your panties peaking out beneath your pajamas as you lay with one leg hiked up and the other hanging straight down.

He sighed in frustration, looking away from your ass and to your defeated figure as a whole atop your mattress. He came forward, scooping you up to pull you further up the bed so he could pull the comforter over you and hide your curves from his view. You stirred and turned to help him, flipping over to tuck your knees in, making room to push your legs under the heap of blankets.

When he saw your frontside, he was sure then. He was definitely being tested. Not only did the nightdress hardly cover your backside, but your cleavage was on full display too, the dainty, girlish fabric hardly covering each of your breasts. Shinji had never seen so much of your body with the modest way you wore your uniform. Now, one of your tits was threatening to spill out of the tiny strap holding it up, and Shinji was torn between looking away and trying to help tuck you in. All the while you were oblivious to his mental struggles, scooting in and pulling the comforter up to your chest, where your breasts were still exposed. Feeling perverted, Shinji grabbed it and yanked it up the rest of the way to your chin.

"Shinji?" You asked with your eyes closed.

"Yeah?" He gulped, prepared for the worst. You were about to call him out for being a perv, for staring at your ass and your tits while you were just so sleepy and oblivious.

But then, "you're the only one looking out for me," you mumbled tiredly and affectionately.

The Captain was able to breathe again, smiling at your cute, delirious talk. "Get some rest, okay?"

You went on. "I'll miss you."

"Miss me?" He laughed quietly.

You'd have never spoken this way to him when you were of right mind. He knew he should tell you to stop talking and go to bed before you spewed something you regretted, but he was too curious and admiring how sweet and fragile you looked and sounded while you were drifting off to sleep, wearing your revealing, princess-like nightdress. He was enjoying seeing this other side of you a little too much to be in such a hurry to leave. Maybe he really was perverted, perverted for your heart for sure.

"Yeah. Until I see you again tomorrow," you explained. "I hope I see you in my dreams."

If he was just as delirious, he'd tell you that he'd miss you too, that he missed you every time you were apart. "You really are tired," he said instead, laughing uncomfortably.

You opened your eyes slightly to watch him. "Will you stay until I fall asleep?" You asked hopefully.

He frowned, at war with himself. "I don't think that will take very long."

"Will you?"

It wasn't possible for him to tel you no when you looked at him like that. "I will."

"Thank you. I-" you wanted to say something badly, but the words never came.

"Yeah?" Shinji raised his eyebrows expectantly, in impatient anticipation.

You shook your head to yourself, fending off whatever thought that was trying to escape. "Thank you," you repeated again, shutting your eyes for the final time tonight.

Shinji was right that it didn't take long for you to fall asleep. He waited and listened for the steady, rhythmic sound of your breathing before rising, stopping to take one last look at your sleeping form, to sear this into his memory. As softly as he could, he reached out to push some stray hairs out of your face, yearning to do more, but knowing that he couldn't.

"Sleep tight, lovebug. I hope I see you in my dreams too."

When you woke the next morning, feeling rested at last, the first thing you noticed was that your room smelt pleasantly like Shinji, bringing back memories of the previous night. The last you remembered was sitting at the kitchen table, having tea with him. You wondered what transpired afterwards, how you got to bed, and were surprised that you were so exhausted you couldn't even properly remember.

When you saw what you were wearing underneath the comforter, you cringed at yourself, hoping that he hadn't seen your pjs and if he had, embarrassed that you had looked so slutty in front of the Captain. The sight of yourself mixed with the ghost of his scent in the room made you feel like a pervert. You were already starting to prepare an explanation for yourself, thinking of telling him it was laundry day, but then, how could you even bring this up to him? Maybe it'd be best to ignore it altogether, pretend like it hadn't happened, though you knew you wouldn't ever be able to forget.

And then when you got out of bed and saw the tea cups in the sink, you were thinking of him again. Shinji Hirako had already invaded your mind nearly every moment of every day, and now he had invaded your personal space as well, making it increasingly difficult to stop thinking of him inappropriately. It made your heart ache with desire and longing, his fleeting scent, his tea cup next to yours. He was just here, and you already missed him, already wanted to see him again. It was agony, having to smell his presence in your home when he wasn't here.

You looked at the clock, remembering his words about meeting at noon. It was still morning. That didn't stop you from pulling on your uniform and robes, scarfing down a quick and simple breakfast, wanting to see him more than you wanted to rest. You headed for his office earlier than you were supposed to. You knew he'd be there already, and you were way too excited.

Something needed to be done about this.
