the feeling when a book fucks you up so hard you have to put it down and take a break because your emotional threshold has reached it's limit
I've been seeing a lot of memes about readers hoarding books and buying some more even through they don't read them, while there are others complaining how they have a huge pile of books to be read. I'm just going to say:
A writer from Medium, Michael Simmons, wrote this golden post about the habit. This is for all of you readers out there: boy, you are some smarty-pants.
My biggest bookworm pet peeve is when other people open their books way too wide. I weep over white lines in the book's spine.
Me: *has twenty unread books at home*
Me: *buys eight more books*
Me: *re reads red white and royal blue*
I am that person who takes three books to read to school "just in case"
“Buying books is immensely comforting. Maybe I won’t read them immediately, but they make me feel so much better whenever I’m sad and blue. Just their presence, it’s like having more to look forward to.”
I want to get back into reading so badly, but I'm just so tired.
reading a good interesting book after a horrible reading slump and suddenly you can feel the sun shining again and the sky is more beautiful than ever and birds are all singing songs to you
That frustrating and facepalm moment when certain line/incident in a book seemed familiar to you(that made you think of smth) and you planned to ask a friend about it after finishing a chapter. But then that thought evaporates completely from your mind and when you remember to ask your friend, you can't really recall WHICH line made you remember WHAT, even after having rechecked the lines! Ugh!!
Why can't authors write all the books in a series and release them at once, so that it benefits both the writer and readers. Readers can read all the books in the series without feeling like dying after a book ends and also there's no other joy than coming out of room after finishing a whole series. Authors can relax at their villa on vacation or plan for another series!!
