Yoooo I'm getting to attached into this story, I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT SKSKSKSKSKSKSK. ples continue for my serotonin-

18 for Present Wukong and MK to accidentally time travel and somehow get stuck with Tripitaka and Past Wukong?

Heck yeah, time travel! How did they get into the past? I went a smidgen too much into detail about that for a short fill actually, but it was very fun to think about! This is going to be fun for MK and MK only.

Looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a while.

Well... at very very least Sun Wukong had to admit... they could have gotten off a lot worse than they did.

They could have ended up even farther back in time.

It was just his luck that one of the only times he helped out MK in a battle would be when some demon with a fascination for history would be attempting to build and use some kind of device to use old artifacts to travel back in time to cause chaos. It was just his luck that it would turn out to work and would take them back to the exact moment it was either created or had a major event happen to it.

And it was just his luck that the artifact in question just so happened to be a very old piece of broken pottery that just so happened to be one that he had accidentally knocked over himself. About... a few many centuries ago.

He had immediately froze as the memories of this particular stop flooded back to him, how they’d been moving on and on with hardly any rest for days and had even he was getting tired. How this was close to the end of their journey. How...

“Wukong?” Tripitaka asked carefully, looking between the two monkeys before him. Both whirled their head toward him, one glad in his full travel regalia and ready to continue on as needed and the other in more casual clothes no less befitting of his status and a younger person behind him in odd clothes he had never seen the likes of before in his life.

But the look on his face told Wukong that he could see the amazement and hope and horror on his face.

Because this was very soon after he and Macaque...

The staff almost made contact with him, almost, before MK jumped in front of him to force it back with his own in a parry. The same staff, just... older. Like him.

“UH you can’t do that!” His younger self exclaimed in shock and no small amount of awe. “How did you do that?”

“It’s a long story...” Wukong muttered, looking at the device in his hands. He was no tech genius, but he was tech savvy enough to know how to use the internet and his computer and play video games. And from personal experience he could tell this thing had a major design flaw. It had run out of juice. “We’re... not from... I... do you know what time travel is -ma-mon-uh... Mr...” He bit his lip, wanting so badly to address his master but unsure if he even should.

“Monkey King?” MK asked after a moment as he turned to him, startling his younger self and Tripitaka by the casual way he addressed him, and carefully took the device from his hands. “Looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a while.... huh? Unless we get some kind of thunderstorm...”

“OK, what the heck is going on?” Younger Wukong asked, looking between the two of them and to Tripitaka. “Master? What do you think? We ju- MASTER!?”

Tripitaka frowned, taking a step closer and only stopping for a moment when Wukong himself flinched back. His eyes widened as he moved closer faster, reaching his hands up to gently cup Wukong’s face and Wukong was too started to move. To do anything but stare and he felt his hands shaking. The monk pulled his face closer carefully, looking into his eyes as if judging him... and he probably was, after Macaque. Not wanting to immediately distrust him but not immediately trusting him to be himself.

He understood that.

“... it is you, isn’t it?” Tripitaka asked after a moment, thumb running over the fur on his cheek and Wukong couldn’t help the soft purr in his chest at the touch. “But not you.”

“Master?” Younger Wukong asked carefully, holding the staff and fully ready to jump into battle at the first indication of trouble but willing to be just a bit patient now. Just as Wukong remembered himself being at this point. “Are you certain?”

“I am, this time,” Tripitaka assured his younger self. “I won’t let myself be taken in like this twice. But I am certain he is speaking the truth.”

Wukong couldn’t help the soft tears that ran down his face. He wasn’t sure if they were from stressed relief or sadness knowing that, eventually... he would have to say goodbye again.
